  1. What does not happen is something yoiu have to clarify.

Unable to invite, or invited people are not joining.

May be they are not interested if it is the 2nd option.

If option 2, you try again. Will work.

  2. How can I directly add (not invite) members to my group?

What’s the difference between "Invite Members" and "Add Members"?

  3. You can join them yourself but just be sure they will want that to happen.   Click on invite left side of your cover page.  Scroll down under the boxes  to  "add members from an existing mailing list".  Click on that and follow the prompts, filling in the email addresses in the top block and a little message in the lower block.  Click continue and finally click " add members".  They are automatically added and will receive the notification.

  4. the people you invited may not want to join. they may not have gotten the invites as often mail providers block them. you'd have to know specifically from the people you sent the invites to that they didn't get them.

if your membership isn't closed, send them the direct link from your groups homepage and they can join by clicking the great big blue Join This group tab in the top right corner

adding members should be used as last resort. when you add members, they will not have the benefit of anything but the mailing list. they will not have access to the groups web features. and if you do not have permission to add their addresses, you risk deletion of the group and your account
