Could someone please help! I am also looking to upgrade the forks, which I have done in the past! until my bike was stolen!

  1. Above answer is not strictly correct.

Whether you can fit disc brakes is dependant on if the frame and forks have the fitting brackets.

For the fork look down the left one close to the wheel. There should be 2 bolt holes.

For the frame look on the left hand side just above the wheel dropout there should be 2 holes

These holes are for the callipers

You also need disk brake wheels. As above said your wheels either need 6 holes in the hub, or possible 5 or 4, or they can be shimano centre lock where the disc is held on by spline.

If the wheels do not have this then you will need some new wheels too.

If you need to buy everything it may be cheaper to get a new bike with disk brakes on it already.

PS do you mean a specialised hardrock ?

  2. I can't tell you if you can or can't but I can tell you how to check.

Look at the hub in the center of the rim (the part where all the spokes connect). If your bike can fit disk brakes on it, then in that area there will be tabs or holes to s***w a caliper in, and a group of 6 holes. It should be the same for the back if it can fit them, if not then there will be no holes on your frame/fork, or hub.
