I just changed my suspension on my 04 ford focus ZX3 and while removing the front strut I broke the ABS wire. I reconnected and now my ABS light is on. I did disconnect the battery for about 30 minutes. No luck. Light still on .

  1. Ouch you broke the wire? I am guessing the battery was connected when you were working on it as well? If so you are lucky the airbags did not deploy as in some cases has been known to happen. You will have to take the car to the dealer to have them check and remove the code from the ecu.

  2. first replace the cut wires then disconnect the battery negative cable for 30 seconds or longer. reconnect the battery cable. Should be reset. Need a scan tool to reset

    Good Luck

  3. ABS wires can not be reliably repaired - I've tried.  They are very sensitive.  You will need to replace the complete wire assembly back to the module which is probably part of the wiring harness.

    Not fun.

  4. Your gonna need a scan tool or take it to the dealership to reset the ABS system.

  5. Take your car to AutoZone. They have a code reader and it might also have the reset button...hey...it's worth a try...at least it's free.
