I cut my car on, it stalls out,after the the second or third try it turns over ,?

the engine races and evens out to an Idle what causes this behavior and what can be done about it? it's a 93" grand prix.

check the throttle cable might have to much play, keep tightening it untill it idles a 1000rpm

More than likely you have either a vacuum leak or an idle air control motor that is sticking.  The idle air control motors get a lot of carbon build up on the pintle causing it to stick open, causing a high idle or stick closed causing a "no start" or very low idle.
