  1. Lol, YES it will certainly grow back! Cutting isn't an issue really...Usually the mane is pulled though, because some hairs will grow back faster than others (just don't over-pull the mane...you don't want it too short, and don't pull it if it's really thin)...In fact, on some of the horses in our program who have very thin manes by nature, we have to cut it, or else there'd be no mane!! Just give it time...it'll grow back.

Really, if your horse has a very thin mane, you're better off cutting it than pulling it, otherwise it looks all shaggy and choppy...Just make sure you cut it when it's dry and brushed...Do you know how to pull a mane for the future? It's actually not hard at all, it just takes a while to do a good job on it, so practice practice! Here's a vid to show you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goydD5Gea...

And, if her mane is for some reason taking a while to grow back (shouldn't take much time at all), there are horsey-hair-growth products available online.

  2. hah you can cut horse manes! i cut my ponies all the time and he looks very handsome he's a shetland so i shave his bridle path i little longer than most and it looks great! and i trim his thick mane because i think it looks cute a little fluffier lol and it always grows back

  3. Yes, it will grow back.  Did you cut it off right at the neck or did you leave something for her?  This is just a good lesson for you to stop, think and maybe ask the next time you decide to do something that has such long lasting results.  Did you just clippers, scissors or what?  Sometimes there are ways to make what you did better if you left her anything at all.  I feel for you, I really do.  Lord, I hope you didn't do her tail too.

EDIT****I don't know how long a polo season is, but a horse cannot grow 12 inches of mane, even in 6 months, probably not even in a year.

  4. All horses are different but the average is one half inch per month.

  5. Yes it will grow back in time, there is not much you can do to make it grow any faster.  Why did you cut it in the first place?

  6. Cutting a horses mane is a matter of taste and what you plan to do with the horse. However, never fear, it will grow back.  Some horses manes grow faster than others, but it will grow back.    If I was you, I wouldn't spend a bunch of money on "magic" remidies.  They usually don't work. A good healthy diet is all your horse needs to grow a good mane and tail.  When you brush it, treat it nice just like you would your own hair, so you don't break it off and damage it.

  7. It will, but it takes a looooonnnngggggg time.

  8. Haha yes it will definitely grow back! Just like human hair. It takes a while, but it will get there. We shave our horses manes for polo, and they have at least 4 inch manes by the time the season is over. No worries :)

  9. Shapley's M-T-G

  10. Yes it will grow back.  Like human hair, some horse's manes take longer to grow than others.  How short did you cut it?  One thing that you can do if it's not too short is get a mane blade, and just blade the ends.  It will make the make shorter, but it will look more natural.  Ask a friend for help, and don't worry too much, it isn't a big deal.

  11. Of course it'll grow back.  Most horses grow hair at the rate of one half inch per month.  It's ok to cut the mane depending on what you're doing with your horse.  If you do Western Pleasure like I do you can cut it to about three inches in length, but whatever length you want it'll grow back too.

  12. I am 67, and I still do not know you where not supposed to cut the mane.

    yes, it will grow back.

  13. Of course it will grow back, it's just like human hair.  It might take a while though.  Next time pull it, it's ok, we all make mistakes.  =D

  14. Well...does your hair grow back when you get it cut?

    There's your answer;)
