When I wrote my account number on the back of my cheque, I made an error and wrote my Card Number.

(I also wrote my name)

Will everything be ok? What should I do?

  1. Contact the bank. That's why they have phones.

  2. The card is tied to your account.  If it is tied to more than one account, one of them is designated as the primary account.  The worst that will happen is that the deposit will go to your primary account.  Most likely, it will be deposited into whatever account you told the ATM to use and they will ignore what you wrote on the check.  You can always call the bank and ask.

  3. There is nothing to worry about.  It's not a problem.  Many people don't even put their account number on the check - just sign it.

Any time you have a question about your bank account, you should always call the bank for the right answer.  That's what they are there for.

  4. They'll probably figure it out. Check your balance on line tomorrow and if the check deposit doesn't show up properly, call the bank.
