  1. They should have you do another blood test about 2 days after your first blood test to verify that your HCG numbers are going up.  If the numbers do not increase enough, you will probably have to have a 3rd blood test done as was the case with me.  (My numbers were a little slow at first and then did really good from there).

Oh, and when I went through my IVF cycle I was told not to take a HPT b/c it could give a false positive or false negative b/c of having to take the HCG shot prior to egg retrieval...just depends on how quick the HCG would get out of my system

  2. Most likely not.  The hcg is low for 14 post transfer and 16 days post transfer.

The 1st ivf is always seen as a trial--to see how you respond to meds (if they need to be changed, etc).  If you responded well to the meds (had 5 or more eggs retrieved) then your most likely on the right track which puts you in the 40% chance of conceiving (if you're under 40 or have fsh 10 or under). A 10% chance if you're 40 or older and have fsh over 10.  They are also making advances in ivf and finding certain things like PABA 300 mg daily and DHEA 80 mg given daily increases the success rate of ivf.  DHEA studies have shown the it makes the ovaries act years younger after taking it for 3 months and reaches maximum results after 4 months of using.  So if you started taking DHEA now and waited 3-4 months to do ivf, it could improve your response to the medicines. Don't take more then 80 mg though.  It will raise your hormones too high.

Young healthy couples without fertility issues only have a 25% chance of conceiving each month so ivf does increase the chances but so many things can happen especially without ivf so don't get discouraged, next month may be your lucky month.

  3. Your levels may not be high enough for a HPT.  Have another blood test done, and another one in 2 days.  Your HCG levels should double every 2 days.  Some womens numbers don't rise as fast as they should, but it can also mean you are no longer pregnant (not trying to scare you, just letting you know).  Good luck!

  4. Go back to the doctor and definitely do a blood test (hcg count) again. HcG should be rising if it is viable pregnancy.  If it is declining, then it could be a chemical pregnancy (no longer pregnant).

    Good luck.
