Question:

I did my laundry and my clothes feel sticky, is that because the washer didn't rinse fully?

I moved into a new place and did my laundry for the first time in the building coin-op laundry.

After I was done, I noticed that my clothes felt kinda sticky. You can't see anything but it's kinda like theres some film on it or something.

Is that because of the washer? It didn't rinse all the detergent out?

or is it because of the dryer because I only put one of those dryer sheets? should I have maybe put in two?

has this ever happened to you? do you know what I'm talking about and what it is?

if it's because of the washer, do I have to wash my clothes again to get it out? or it's OK to wear as is?

also in the future, should I use a smaller load? I thought it was a small load so maybe the washer's crappy?

  1. i think mabye it could be the washers.if its public, over time it could have damage.

also,if you used more dtergent if,maybe, one of your clothes had stains,it didnt wash it out all the way

just soak it in water and dry it again

  2. It could be a number of things. It could be that it didn't rinse properly, it could also be too much detergent, the type of detergent, how many clothes were in the load etc.

  3. I would try less soap first. If that doesn't work, try to dryer sheets, If that doesn't work, try putting something like vinager or something in with the wash. But with every one using the washer, that could be it.

  4. My guess is you need a slightly smaller load and less detergent.  Make sure that the water covers the clothes with 2 inches or so to spare so the clothing can move during agitation. You also might try using vinegar in the rinse cycle to get the residue off. If the feeling doesn't bother you, it won't hurt to wear the clothes but they may become lint magnets until they're washed again. Also a definite possibility that the machine is just junk. You may need to find a good laundromat nearby. You can usually save money with those since you can choose between different sizes of machines.

  5. Experiment and use a little less detergent

Also add half a cup of white vinegar as a rinse aid - it will help to remove excess detergent and leave them nice and soft and to also smell fresh

Dry your clothes in some sunlight if you can or at least some times

  6. Yep, it was probably insufficient rinsing.

Rather than actually rewashing it all, put it back in the machine and run a full wash/rinse cycle, but without detergent.

Maybe the washer IS crappy, or maybe it's just not up to handling a large volume ... how many people use this machine?

You might want to use a commercial laundromat for times when you have a LOT of laundry to do.  Those commercial front-loaders do the best job of washing, and they really REALLY rinse.  A bit inconvenient, maybe, but more effective.

Laundry that's not properly rinsed will smell bad, almost worse than "dirty laundry" smell!
