Currently playing the post 1st interview waiting game now (interview went great). Told that I would receive the result within a week but got no response. Then I did a follow-up soon after and got this as reply:

"Thank you for contacting me. We are currently making a final decision as to who we would really like to have in our team.We will let you know of a result as soon as we decide.Thank you very much for also taking your time to write me."

Does this means I'm in a good position? Should I do a follow up again later or wait more? Kinda confused here.

  1. Sounds like you sent an email.  You should probably call.  There sounds to be other applicants and you want to be fresh in their mind when they make their decision.

  2. When did you get that reply? That seems pretty cut and dry to me. It seems like there may be several people involved in the decision-making process. I really think-hope-that they will soon let you know one way or the other.

You are in the running. I am not sure how many people they interviewed, so that could be a problem. Plus, people tend to take vacations this time of year, so maybe that could be causing a delay.

This past Winter, I was interviewed for a job. The interview went very well. The women who ran it told me they would be in touch in 2 weeks at the earliest. 2 weeks went by and I emailed them. Nothing. Another week and I emailed again, and got a response that they were still sifting through the resumes. 3 weeks after that, I got a rejection email. So, it does take time.

I think you have done all you can for now. I hope you hear something soon! GOOD LUCK!

  3. Sometimes companies may need the help so they will go through an interview process. But, if they start to drag out a response to you, it doesn't mean you did not qualify for the position these are a few possibilities:

The department that needs you may have had a budget cut; so for instance your salary may be at the high end of their budget. If they higher you and next year when they have salary increases would you get the one you deserve or would you get the one they can afford?

Another possibility is that they may have forgotten that they have to add you to there quarterly Employment list, some city require that employer pay a fee to have you work for them, also every quarter Employment Development Dept. requires that the company pay into the Employment Insurance Fund, that way if this job does not work out for you, you can get an unemployment check. There are a lot of small fee that can add up and may be the difference in hiring a person.

There is nothing wrong with touching bases with H.R. but don't put all your energy into one company. You want them to chase you because you are a good catch for their company.

  4. that means they have many options to pick from and you're one of many..but good luck..hope you get it
