I didn't meet the deadline for financial aid for college. Can I still get it my second year?

  1. Financial aid must be re-applied for on a year to year basis.  At least federal aid must be, if that is what you are referring to.  You can not take it one year, and then elect to take it later.  Next year will have no bearing on whether you took it this year or not.  

    Next year make sure you apply on time!  ;-)


  2. the final deadline for federal fin aid (fafsa) isn't until June 30, 2009.  Months and months from now.  So although you likely missed your schools PRIORITY deadline, you still can apply and receive federal assistance to go to school.  Do it quickly, and be aware if it takes awhile to process you may have to wait a semester (like start in Jan rather than Sept) if you can come up with the money up front and be reimbursed when your fin aid comes in.  (this is what most people do when they are late, but some schools will allow you to have a balance if they know your fin aid is pending).
