I didn't pass my AP exams?

I took English and US History and on both of them I got a 2, which to me that's failing. (I have NO idea why I got a 2 on History...)

However, I took the course and I got a B+ in AP English and an A in AP History. What does this mean to colleges?

I'm just not a very good test taker as you can see...

  1. Same here. For history, I have no clue why I even got a 2. I finished taking the test with much confident that I could get a 4. Instead, I got my scores yesterday and saw that I got a 2. During the year, my grades in the class were B+/B.

And when we were taking previous AP history tests, I would get like a 3 on the MC, but with the fr/dbq added, I saw that I could at least get a 4. And to me, the MC was easy.

So I am really ashamed and disappointed in myself, especially since my friends got 3's/4's.

I mean, what are the chances that they could have scored a test wrong?

    I just don't believe I deserved what I got.

  2. Don't worry you'll do better.

I got a 2 in World History and it was my favorite subject so it was a really big letdown but it doesn't mean you're "dumb" or anything, colleges realize some schools are harder than others and that some teachers just don't know how to teach it well to everyone. If you really have a passion to get a good score you'll be able to do it. Buy "5 steps to getting a 5" study guide, it's pretty easy to read and I studied for the APUSH one for like a week and I haven't had history for half a year so that's pretty fast and I'm sure you can do it too cause I'm really slow :[ But the best advice I can give is: just take all the practice tests over and over cause they re-use questions all the time!

Colleges will be glad that you tried.

At least you took the exam, if you didn't it would look bad. I'm a horrible test taker too and sucked at SAT's. :(

    Good luck!

  3. ha ha that sounds like me in high school! i am definately not a very good test-taker either, and it is so not fair to judge your entire intellect on one single test! yes i made a 2 on the history exam, the AB calculus exam, the english literature AND the enlish language exam, and on the physics exam! i could not get past that 2 either=] but it seems to me like you would have great SAT and ACT test scores, so i'm sure you'll do fine getting into any  college you want =] good luck!

  4. It doesn't mean anything to colleges except that you don't get college credit for those courses, so long as you don't send the scores.

  5. To the college it means that you won't get college credit for the course; however you have worked hard to take high level courses in preparation for college.  I know many students who didn't receive any college credit for AP classes but the fact that they took and passed the actual class shows they are willing to work hard and face the challenge of college.  Don't beat yourself up over your scores.  These are difficult test and the AP tests are not necessarily like the ones you will have in college.  You may also find that by having had the classes, you will be able to take a placement test for subjects and go into a higher level.

  6. I'm not so sure what the score and grade correlation would mean to colleges, but they would probably conclude that your classes may have been too easy or you were not feeling well on both test days.
