Question:

I didn't realise you could actually transplant a head. What do you think about this? Should we be doing this?

I now realise why they have been cloning animals with no heads. One day we will be able to grow a new body and have our head transplanted. Should we be using this science to save lives? Or is it morally bankrupt?

  1. We can't transplant heads.  They apparently have cloned a frog body without a head, but that is a far cry from transplanting a head onto a body.  The idea is to make it possible to grow replacement organs without having a living human being to take them from.  It would be completely immoral to clone an entire human being to harvest organs from.  However, if it had no head, it wouldn't be a living being, just a collection of organs.  I don't see the point, though, of growing an entire body just to get a liver.  It would make more sense to use a person's own stem cells to grow the needed organ.

  2. I think you can't have a new head! Maybe new body but not head! Or if you have another's brain it is still you?!

  3. Hmmm....I would guess that anything is possible.  Back in the day when the very first heart transplant transpired, the public was aghast!

    So I certainly would not be surprised if we transplant heads.  But would we not be transplanting "bodies"?

    Think of the scenario's arisng from this new medical breakthrough!

    *  I HATE this new body!  It's repulsive.

    *  Doc, I want a body like Angelina Jolie's, in black.

    *  You're telling me the only body available was 4ft 4in??

    *  It feels "foreign".  Take it off NOW!

    *  I LOVE the body but it doesn't go with my face!  Get me a

       new face!

    *  OMG!  It's on backwards!

    *  What do you mean I can have babies now??
