I really hope it wasn't, cause i've been exercising all summer, and yes I did sweat, but not much. I'm only 13. Yes, I'm overweight :/ So, that's why i've been exercising, but I'm now realizing I didn't sweat a whole lot, I sweat though. Was it pointless?

  1. Sweating has absolutely nothing to do with burning calories.  So don't worry about if your sweating a lot or not.  Some people just sweat more than others.  Just keep exercising hard and remember consistency is key to reaching your goals.  Good luck!

  2. Sweating does not cause fat loss, but it is an indicator of how hard you were working out.  If you didn't sweat whilst working out in summer then your effort level was very low.  That isn't a bad thing for someone starting out but you can't expect to have burnt many calories.

It does indicate that you were doing low intensity cardio which burns calories during the exercise.  It's more effective to do high intensity cardio because it forces the body into regeneration mode which lasts for up to 48 hours.  Which do you think is better - 3 hours of slow cardio which  burns calories for 3 hours or 20 minutes of high intensity cardio which burns calories for 48 hours?

  3. No of course not!

Any exercise you get is good. :)

  4. the key is to make sure your heart rate was elevated to the optimal pace for a certain amount of time.  Use a treadmill with a heart rate sensor (you hold onto with your hands) and talk to your doctor about what rate you should be at while excercising.

  5. No. Sweating is your body cooling down, not fat escaping through your pores. All that matters is how much effort and time you put in.

Drinking water helps you sweat more.
