I didn't win when my opponent's timer hits zero Why?

When I play yahoo chess, I always set up the timer 10 minutes, no increment.When my opponent's timer hits zero, i did not win the game.Why is that? I still had over 5 minutes left. So the game continued ,my timer hits zero, and i lost the game.Please answer me !

  1. If your timer was counting down, that would mean that it was still your turn. Why did you sit there for 5 minutes watching your timer count down? You could have at least made another move to start his timer again...
