  1. You don't get paid for the week of your payday. They need that time to do the accounting and cut the checks. So, your first pay period is your first week (training) and the second week (not working). Your next paycheck will be for the hours worked this week and next week, which you'll get the following week.

  2. When you are paid hourly, it takes them awhile to calculate, produce and distribute your check, so normally when you get paid you aren't getting paid yet for that week.  You'll get the other 20 hours in your next paycheck.  You'll always be a week behind getting paid - then if someday you quit, you'll still get a last paycheck for those last hours.

  3. Get the HR dept to go over it with you.

  4. ask your manager about the pay schedule or reread your handbook. the first check was probably for your trainging(which can be less per hour while training) and your next check will probably have your other 43 hours on there. also be aware of overtime laws in your state in some states anything over 40 hours is time and a half
