  1. maybe a bigger bumper

  2. Keep low to the ground.  Make your knees a 90 degree angle, keep your back straight, maybe even lean a little forward.  Keep your arms flat and tuned your as a platform.  Go up for the ball with your legs once you're under it.  Number one rule... DON'T SWING YOUR ARMS!!!

  3. use more legs instead of arms

  4. Bumping is quite hard for those which it doesn't come naturally to - which means most players are like this?  And it is only a whole lot of practice that will get it working right.  If you are very keen on volleyball, I suggest purchasing (or ask your parents to...) a cheap practice volleyball. Note - I mean 'cheap' because the cheap volleyball can take the punishment outside on hard surfaces, etc.  If you have a friend or two to practice with - that will help a lot.  You can then bump, set and spike at each other --- and your ball handling skills will quickly improve according to the amount of time you spend practising.  Players who've been playing for years, show that their ball handling skills are far better than someone new to the game.

For the ball to be soft, the air pressure has to be adjusted such that you can press both thumbs about 1/8th of inch into the volleyball - you can ask someone to adjust the air pressure until it feels right to you.  You need the ball to be 'soft' so that your arms won't be injured so much.  First time bumpers do find that their arms do hurt a great deal at first - maybe you can cut up an old tight sweater, of it's arms and use that for protecting your arms, for a few weeks?  Otherwise you may complain of how much it hurts?

If you watch some beach volleyball players, etc - you will see that they get to their ready position early enough, with the bump technique - most times you let the ball bounce off you - you only swing, if the ball is coming slow to you.

I don't think you can practice the bump by yourself, even against a wall... But you can certainly practice your spiking against a wall, and your set technique against the wall or straight up.. to get the fingering technique working.

Even if you have someone throw the volleyball to you, and you bump it back to that person - and that person catches it, and repeat it all over again .. a lot of practising like that, should enable you to do your bumps OK... but it'll be much better practising with other volleyball players - then you can do the full bump, set and spike to each other - and also all manner of other ways to keep the ball alive...

The more practice - the more confident you will be, and better able to do the various techniques, etc...

  5. hey girl..i had that problem too..your not getting yourself behind the ball enough..you need to bend your knees more and have a better stance..so that when you get under the ball it will get across the court..also dont swing at the ball, let it come to you and make sure that you hussle and you move your feet to here the ball is at..i hope this helped you and i hope you can make the team now!  SaRah!!

  6. all  you have to do is get a volleyball and hit it by yourself and once you can try to hit it across the net and don't go just straight up when you hit it across the net. you also need to know know how to spike, drive, pass and other stuff hit me up if you kneed otha info.

  7. See if you have the correct basic technique for passing as described below:

No matter how much you play, FIRST learning the basic skills and using the right forms, motion, and posture is most importanat. If you don't do this, you'll never reach your full potential. I know people who have been playing volleyball for decades but still suck because they never picked up the basic skills. Once you pick up bad moves and it becomes habitual, you're in deep trouble because it's very hard to lose them. Basically, you would always use wrong techniques to pass, set, and hit.

    Passing:

    1. Contact point - Put your hands and forearms together with both arms straight.

You can use the whole forearms to pass but there's a sweet spot right above your wrists. Do not hit the ball with your wrists or fists.

    2. Posture - Bend your knees and keep your arms up making arms and thighs parallel and 90 degrees to your body. It's all about eye-hand coordination. When you keep your arms up they're closer to your eyes.

    3. Motion - Lean forward slightly standing on your forefoot when waiting for serves. This helps you react faster.

Chase the ball, position yourself, get in to 'the posture,' wait for the ball, and let the ball hit your forearms and bounce off.

Don't swing or jump at the ball. You should have the arms up and ready to pass before making the contact.

Best way to master the basic skills is to pepper and when you do this, always use the correct posture and full motion. Just pepper a lot whenever you get chance. Repetition makes perfection. Build the right techniqes into your body.

  8. Tell the coach you want to try again, and try really hard the second time, and if you cant keep practicing that means that you are not ready yet. Good luck :p

  9. if you're referring to volleyball then it;s probably a good thing u didn;t make the team

  10. practice practice practice
