I need to figure out a form or log sort of thing. Is there an official one I should use or something? I'm a freshman in high school right now, .

  1. This really depends on how formal the requirements are. For now, one fairly easy way is to print out a weekly or monthly calendar page (Outlook may have some of these) and as you go to your volunteer activities, have a supervisor sign or initial for the time you're there. Be sure you keep these in a folder or somewhere so you will have proof when you need it. I would also recommend making a copy of each week or each month and keep it in a safe place, just in case . . .

Word has the "table" feature, where you can make a table with, say, seven columns and five rows for a month. Add about 4-5 spaces in the cells. You could hand-write the day in the top right corner, log the time you spend and get the signature for proof. Contact me at brother_jonathan58 AT yahoo DOT com and I can send you a blank or sample copy. Feel free to do as you like with it.

Also, if you haven't done so, ask your guidance counselor, as he or she could give a lot of sound advice. You don't want to spend a lot of hours at a child-care facility, for example, if you want to be a diesel mechanic, but again, there are more scholarships now than I ever heard of in my high school years. I wish you the best of all success in all you do!

  2. yes. always log your hours. what my sheet looks like is a bunch of columns labled: activity/organization; date; time in; time out; number of hours; and signature. to make it official, you must have a supervisor sign off on your hours.

  3. make a book outlining your duties and get the supervisor to sign and date the times you work with their qualifications beside thier signature

  4. You can make up a form with columns (an excel worksheet would be awesome).  The columns you will need include:  Name of organization, date, time in, time out, total hrs for that particular day, for scholarship and internship purposes you will need to also log they type of work you did for each entry and get each signed or initialed by your supervisor, and if you have an excel spreadsheet you can sort the organizations by name date or times and get a total amount of hours for any specific period of time whether it be one week, one month, or one year.  Excel allows you to log all on one spreadsheet and then you can sort by name to get all of your information for one organization with the click of a mouse.
