“I do expect to be ready for the year's first Grand Slam,” says Maria Sharapova – Tennis News
Slender legged gorgeous world number three, Maria Sharapova, withdrew from the Brisbane International tournament 2012 due an ankle injury but she is absolutely confident that she will return to courts at the first Grand Slam tournament
of the year, Australian Open, starting from 16th of January. There is not much time left to recover from injury but her commitment and willpower can definitely fasten the healing process.
Talking about her availability for 2012 Australian Open, she said, “I do expect to be ready for the year's first Grand Slam and I am really looking forward to competing on court." Fans will be a bit relieved to hear something positive
from their hot favourite tennis icon.
Former world number one from Russia was disappointed to have not been available for the Brisbane International due to an injury. That was such disappointing news for her fans all across the globe but this announcement might pump
in some hope in their mind to see their tennis ace in action in the midst of January 2012.
Commenting about her disappointment at not participating in 2012 edition of Brisbane tournament, she said, “I was really looking forward to starting my 2012 season at the Brisbane International, which has a fantastic reputation
as a great and welcoming event."
She further added, “Unfortunately my ankle is not 100 % and I won't be able to make it this year.” It seems like Sharapova will start her New Year campaign with a negative frame of mind. Considering her recovery of ankle injury,
her game will definitely be limited because she would not be resting too much weight on her ankle to avoid any chronic injury.
Sharapova has been surrounded with injury problems lately, as she pulled out of year-end championship contested at Istanbul, Turkey. It is not the first time that any serious injury has stung her. She has been suffering from a
shoulder injury for quite a long time. It is disappointing to see such a talented and breathtaking superstar is sidelined for a long period of time.
Russian superstar hasn’t missed an Australian Open ever since her first appearance in the tournament since 2003, except the 2009 edition of the event, when she was suffering from a shoulder injury. It will be a second rare event
in the history of the Australian Open, if Sharapova decides to pull out at the last moment due to an injury. Fans will be praying that she gets fit in time and not backs out from the event.
