I do not believe in god at all and i was wondering why i should believe in god?

i am really confused. my grand father is a total god lover and i dont no how to tell him or if i should let me just tell you this he used to be a jahova whitness and he flipped outabout me watching a haunting on discovery channel

i need help please

Man, my friend, please hear my cry, I promise you got god all wrong. Your grandfather got god wrong too. Jesus payed the price so you can LIVE YOUR LIFE IN THE WAY THAT U SEE FIT = Liberty. I'm sure you live that way now, which means you are grown and have put away childish things, like in 1Cor 13.I Know god and have met him and he is a philosopher, a scientist, a poet, a artist, a genius, a hard worker and a teacher with a great sense of humor. Would a Person like that send any one to h**l? of course not! Would your Mother or Father torture you and kill you? of course not! Neither would our creator. Look, I was once a drug addict who hated himself and hit rock bottom, and just like every other Christian testimony I too gave my life over to Jesus only to fall into some sort of a paradox which lasted 13 weeks. God showed himself to me and I would describe god as a "IT", more than a "He". IT described itself as "The Light", and it's work was done with what seemed to be "Time and Chance" which is something like "Destiny". Human to Human, just telling you what I know , because I saw it with my own eyes. You just have to believe Me. Continue being brave and open minded, Search and You will Find! Peace.

I believe in God because the alternative is basically absurd.  If one denies that God exists, that person is claiming infinite knowledge that the infinite does not exist.

Also, if you deny God, you basically are left needing more faith than those who believe in God because you must believe that everything in this world including human beings ultimately came from nothing caused by nothing.  I know that sounds whacked, but it is impossible to deny logically.  Being a JW is not normally considered a reasonable belief because the JWs are a cult.

Every person born on this earth,has to find out for their selves on this. Then it is their decision whether to believe or not to. It is up to them and no one should be interfering with that decision. I have come to the conclusion that there is not,but it is only my thoughts. Don't let others influence you on this one. It is all up to you.

God created the Earth and all of it's beings. You don't have to be in Jehova's witnesses to believe in God.

b/c He loves YOU. He gave you free will to choose because he doesn't want to force us to love him he wants us to make that decision on our own. He loves you no matter what you choose. but the question is will you return his love?

ok i watch haunting too!and i do strongly believe in god!my mom thinks that i should know what i would get into if i did some spell or something evil...so she let's me watch haunting just to learn a lesson what can happen!!My dad is like "i don't think u should watch that!"and my mom rolls her eyes!my mom watches it with me!but i believe in god b/c i need some one to protect me from evil,come to when i something happens that is like a OMG moment and i tell him that and i know that he is listening!and he did make me and u!i have to give him respect!and i like to know what happened to him too!i read the bible some times!i like palms!but anyway i think u should believe in him b/c he is everything u should believe in!i know ur like whatever just tell ur grandfather u understand but u will come to god when u feel he is calling u!and that u watch haunting b/c u want to know what happens if u did something evil which i won't!but i can learn a lesson and know that they got punished!u need to let ur grandfather know that u will come to this when u need to!and i will tell u when u take god into ur heart... it feels great!like ur always protected and u feel loved!!!:))))))

You grandfather has every right to believe any way he wants to. Just like you do. You can respect his opinion but you don't have to buy into the whole god thing. I believe you should question everything. Religion is totally man made. Follow your heart listen to you inner voice on what is right. If you grandpa preaches at you just listen then say thanks for your opinion and move on. I am sure he would love to convert you but its important you are true to yourself.

God doesn't want you to believe in Him for any other reason than because you want to, and because you love Him. One is not a true Christian if one believes in Him for any other reason than that. But the life of a Christian is the happiest there is.

Personally, I believe in God because otherwise life has no meaning.  I could not live my life thinking that we live and die for no reason.  My father died this year, and I truly believe I will see him again in Heaven someday.  This brings me comfort and joy.

If I'm wrong in the end, what's the harm?  But if atheists are wrong, I feel sorry for all the 'splaining they will have to do before our Creator, LOL!

The only reason I could come up with is a lot of churches have really good potluck lunches. Other than that, there's really nothing reasonable, rational, sane or even remotely appealing about it.

I'm also wondering why you shouldn't believe at all. Put it like this, If you believe in God and in truth He doesn't exist, then you'll be okay although you wasted some time, but if you don't believe in Him and in truth He really exists, then you are in for a really big trouble by the end of time.

Though none could adequately prove God's existence but only through faith, none also ever had prove that He doesn't exists at all. The problem of us humans is that we heavily rely on what we can only understand, thus we tend not to believe what we could not comprehend; we tend to discard the things that cannot be unveiled by our science. We fear what is mysterious.

But God doesn't work that way, He likes us to discover Him in subtle experiences of our lives. We may never be able to grasp His nature because His wisdom is so much greater than every mind in this world could ever have. Man is trying so desperately to ignore His reality at no reasonable cause.

And by the way, if your watching haunting, then you must believe in ghosts and paranormals. And if they are true, then God must not be far behind is He?

Why should you believe in God? Well, first you need to understand and know a little about God.

Also, you must understand that we all sin. Sin sends us to h**l, no exceptions. Christ, who is God, came to earth and took our sins upon Him and died as payment for those sins. That payment is valid only for those who repent of their sins (turn away from them) and put their faith in Jesus Christ as God. Those who do, will not go to h**l but to heaven. If you don't believe in God, you will go to h**l.

Please read "Guide for the Perplexed" by E. F. Schumacher. This Christian author's logic is impeccable. I have not trouble at all accepting God. However, I do argue with the concept of a personal God. It's too much for me to believe that God looks like a man and sits on a throne.

I also argue with specific denominations of Christians who throw huge new interpretations and rules on the Bible. Ghosts and the supernatural surely have been accepted by many Christians for many years. It's too bad that your grand father appears to a fear based belief system and does not have a more open and compassionate heart for the unknown.

Try and experiment.  Ask God every night in prayer for 30 days or until He answers.  Ask God to make Himself known to you.  Just say if you are real Lord, let me know you.  Remind God of Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things."

Repent of your sins and ask God to save you from your sins.  Try for 30 days and grand dad may not be so stupid after all.

I suggest you let grandpa keep fooling himself until he is dead and gone. Then you can go one with the rest of your life without having to worry about being mentally abused because you refuse to swallow myths and stories as fact.

It really upsets me that the Discovery Channel airs that c**p though. That should be reserved for eh SCiFi channel, not a science/learning channel.

There is not need to make a firm decision when you are young. Take it easy. Just be agreeable and get along with people and you will have plenty of time to decide these things in the future.

you just need to understand that God is real,you can pray and your prayers will come true if you believe in God,beleive me its has happened to me before,and it wiil happen to you if you just beleive.at a time my mom didnt beleive in God because he had took 3 people from our family less then 2 months apart and then she had to go get surgery and she almost died and she started to beleive in him and he brought her back.please beleive in God he has made the great and bad things in life but has made the best of things.
