I do not know if ghost are real or not, but if they are, can they become tangeable?

like can they appear as if they look like a normal human being or are they always translucent? :)

Tangible means you can touch them.  Most accounts of ghosts  describe them as not being things you can touch or that can touch you.  Although, if you consider theories on what ghosts might be, that does not mean that they cannot physically interact with you.  If they are energy, that cannot really be "touched" but can affect the atoms in your body, and thus interact with you (like electricity can electrocute you, but not be "touched").  

Now concerning what form they would take:

That also depends on what they are made of.  If they are energy... like electromagnetic energy, they could only be seen as a source of light... kind of like a star.  Assuming they are even visible energy.  To be see like a human, with shadows and such, they could not only be made of energy because they electromagnetic energy doesn't reflect off of itself.  

I don't know what else people think they could be... disturbances left on Earth?  That would require that atoms be disturbed... and I don't see how that could happen for very long after that person lived as the energy causing those atoms to act like that would disperse eventually, but I suppose you could see them in any form that way.

If they were visiting from another dimension... well that would cause all sorts of problems concerning local physics, but I guess that allows anything to be possible.

If they are something science cannot explain: a true spirit.  Then you cannot use logic to explain how they should appear.  And certainly many people claim that the ghosts they've seen looked just like real people or as they did when they lived.

There have been several stories surrounding Civil War ghosts and battlefields.

During a re-enactment scene, two men dressed as Union soldiers encountered a battle worn looking man that made small talk with them and even handed them authentic bullets from that time.

They said the man smelled of sulfur.

But he was just as solid as you and I.

A foreign diplomat and his entourage were touring a battlefield and watched Civil War period soldiers doing marching exercises.

When they returned to the Embassy, they complimented the officials for the demonstration.

There wasn't a demonstration.........

And if you go into You Tube and type in Gettysburg Ghosts, there is a video a family caught on film of activity of people moving through the trees.

my friend said she saw a ghost and it was almost solid looking but it was slightly translucent.  it must be different for everyone.

I've heard people..even on here...say that sometimes they looked "the same as you and me"..so I guess they can. Maybe it depends on if they're good or bad spirits.  Maybe the better they are..the more tangible they look. I don't remember anyone saying that you could see through angels like you can through ghosts. Also, I've heard that they come to rescue people ..in a car accident etc..and they think they are regular people..then all of a sudden they don't see them anymore and never hear from them again.

Ghosts are pure energy, They can appear as normal humans,  I have encountered that. They will sometime only target specific people, like the ones who are highly prone to paranormal experiances. I am prone of having "out of body experiances" and seeing the same black shadow figure, since I was a child. There is also a girl that seems to be everywhere, same face, same feeling, same aura. I dont believe ghost can manifest in a "physical" form to the point where you can touch them, but if energy can be contained and then be formed, it is possible that you can actually "touch" then instead of just feeling their pressence.

In the majority of reported cases ghosts appear as solid human beings and not as see through figures as is often presented in movies. Most experiences last less than 15 seconds so there are few reports of people trying to touch ghosts. The few reports that do exist say they are not solid and usually fade away when a person attempts to touch them.

Spirits have been described as mists, orbs, full bodied, solid in full color and shadows.  If a spirit can block out visible light even for a few seconds it will appear to be solid. Some of those programs on television the participants of the ghost hunts will claim to have been touched, but you never "see" anything. I guess it is up to the spirit whether or not it will use it's limited energy for show-and-tell or patty cake - or voice their opinion.

It is unlikely and rare that you will hear of one interacting on all three levels at the same time - visibility, physical manifestation and vocal interaction.

To some they are tangeable.  To some, not so much.  I don't know that there is any real reason why other than to say that all people have talents of some kind.  Some can sing, some dance and some are capable of great works of art.  Then there are those who are able to use the 5 senses that most everyone has to interact with ghost and spirits.  I say it is a gift.

actually tangible simply means that it is perceptible by your senses.. not just the sense of touch..

so i guess if ghosts are real and can be seen.. yes they are tangible..

juz a lil xtra info.. the tendency to see 'ghosts' has sometimes been attributed to places that produce a certain frequency of sound that resonates to the cornea of our eye thus creating a 'blur' or 'transclucent' image that people might tend to 'see'

so i guess it kind of depends on your definition of ghosts as  well..

who knows, if ghosts exist then we have no theory that accurately predicts or governs their behavior.
