I do not know what I should do!?

I just had a baby a little over 4 weeks ago. I went to see my doctor 2 weeks after having her and asked her when it would be ok to start having s*x again. She told me, "Most people say 6 weeks but no one waits that long. As long as you're done bleeding you can have s*x."

I was already done bleeding so I had s*x with my husband. After we were done I was bleeding again. It was alot heavier too! I've been non stop bleeding ever since and it's been very heavy.

Should I worry about it or just let it go and see what happens?

  1. You just had a baby. Depending on how large the baby is in proportion to how large you are, you could have numerous tears and rips causing the bleeding. When the bleeding stopped, those tears were just beginning to heal. So by having s*x again, you just ripped open many of those tears, most wider then they were originally.

  2. First, they tell you to wait six weeks because that is the average time it takes for post-pregnancy bleeding (this obviously ranges for most people). Now the fact you say you stopped bleeding at two weeks is VERY unlikely because you would usually bleed for the first two weeks rather heavy and by the third week it would start lighting up or stop mid third week. It is possible that you weren't done bleeding yet, nothing to fret about. Your husband hasn't injured you and its nothing that needs panic. Wait two more weeks and if the bleeding hasn't lighted up than you can ask your obgyn if there is anything going on done there that shouldn't be. Otherwise, your fine. It just sounds like you weren't entirely done and now you should let it finish before making more babies with hubby.

If, however, you are feeling any kind of cramping that is abnormal or concerning you than you should definitely talk to your doctor and express your concerns. Its important you don't work up a panic when its not needed, you have a new baby to care for and thats enough stress to handle.

Congratulations on the new baby and I hope I helped.

  3. I would call your doc and let her know see if she wants you to come in and get check out just to be safe!

  4. I'd go to the ob/gyn just to ensure that you didn't tear or rupture something. If you're not in pain, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but I'd get checked out to be on the safe side! Explain what happened and they'll prob have you come in ASAP.

  5. Just let it go a few more days, if it continues then contact your doctors office and they will advise you.

  6. If you have unexpected bleeding you should always contact your midwife or GP especially if the blood is bright red or has any clots, you could have an infection but always best to get checked out

  7. maybe you had a set back

  8. it could be that you ripped back open.. call your doc and see if she wants you to wait a few more days or get checked

  9. If you are unsure, see your doctor! Or call a nurse at your hospital. I waited 7 weeks, and even then my body didn't feel ready! Now, at 10 weeks it finally is starting to feel normal again!
