I do not understand where to put the timestrip. on the filter n the water or on the outside of tank?

i got the three pack frameless cartridges so it came with the timestrip holder. where do i put the holder?

All the timestrip is is an indicator of when to buy a new filter cartridge. Once you put in the new cartridge, you activate the timestrip, and it starts 'timing'.  It just changes colour at a set speed, so when the whole area is full (i.e. the set time has passed), you should change the filter.  It doesn't matter where the timestrip goes.  It will time the same way if it's sitting beside the tank as it would if it's in your sock drawer :p It's just a timer, not a measuring device of any sort.  Does that answer your question?
