Well known football analyst, Alexander Panov, has insisted that he did not understand why Zenit St. Petersburg have signed Renat Yanbaev on a season long loan spell from Lokomotiv Moscow on the final day of the transfer window.

Panov insisted that Zenit waisted their resources to sign Yanbaev, revealing that the Russian defender will struggle to find first-team action in presence of reliable defenders at Petrovsky stadium.
“On the last day of the Russian transfer window, Zenith hav one more  signed one more player: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Renat-Yanbayev-c30821. He can play as a left-back or a right-back. Zenit welcomes Yanbayev in St. Petersburg club and wishes him all the best
for his future.” The club’s official website said on Saturday.

The defending Russian Premier League champions signed a one-year contract with the left-back, whose original contract with his parent club exprires on December 2013, despite stiff competition from Rubin Kazan and Spartak Moscow.

The Moscow-based club were ready to offer the out-of-favour defender a three-year contract in a bid to bolster their defensive ranks, following injuries to their long-term servants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergei-Parshivlyuk-c32969 and Soslav Gatagov.

However, they failed to sign the 28-year-old Russian stopper after the player himself expressed his desire to play for the defending champions.

Andrei Arshavin, who scored three goals in a ten league appearances last season, returned to the Emirates stadium after spending a season long loan spell at Zenit.

The Meshki, who remained the front runners to sign the 30-year-old attacker until the last day of the summer transfer window, failed to sign Arshavin after failing to meet Arsenal’s valuation of the player.

“Arsahvin is a great passer of the ball and a star of our championship. I am surprised to know that Zenit failed to sign him.” The Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.

Commenting on Aleksandr Bukharov, Panov insisted that the Russian striker is struggling to rediscover his old form for quite some time. He revealed that the 27-year-old forward should have moved to CSKA Moscow or Dynamo Moscow this summer.
