  1. many people think they are intelligent than others, horse racing gives them a chance to prove that, it is thrilling ,has suspence and when u win the race ,it proves that ur intelligent, lucky ,u become the star in the eyes of the other punters

  2. MONEY- getting it and keeping it- is the reason so many people are attracted to this sport. There really isn't another one. Yes, there are some people who are drawn to it by the horses themselves, but most people are in it only for the money. Racing is an industry which generates BILLIONS of dollars and employs MILLIONS of people- and they in turn have a huge impact on the national and global economies. It's known as the "Sport of Kings" for a reason- most of the players in it are extremely wealthy people- and some of them are heads of state, or are close to that.

There are some small time operators in this sport- but they are very much in the minority. Most of these smaller people are in it because they love horses, love the sport, or both, and money is only a secondary objective for them. Within this group is another one comprised of people who are in the sport for the thrill of it, and no other reason.

    That answer your question?

  3. Horse racing would be a hobby and not a sports industry if not for betting and wagering.

Gambling introduces and makes Horse racing more intersting to people... and it either takes to them or it doesn't.

    BUT...

Your question is basicly spurned on by a lack of understanding of what is happening with horses who are competing with all of thier energy. They are not just running around in a circle...

and it's not a critisim or an attack on you or your character. You are just into other things....

Why do some people like Boxing?... Just two guys punching each other... Right

Belive me as a former boxer there is a lot more happening in the ring then two guys punching. Defense, strategy, saving your energy, steping into position.

What wins matches is stepping over and getting an angle on your opponent you don't win by by being a stronger  puncher. It's just something that helps. There is alot more going on to the avid watcher than to the unfamilar spectator.

Same with horse racing horses. Horses are not just running around a big circle. They can loose thier cool, not change thier lead foot coming out of a turn. Lugging out, Lugging in, over exerting themselves to early, Getting boxed in by another horse and Jockey and having no room to pass. There is more strategy then just running as fast as you can. A horse has to to pace and then sprint when coming home to the finish line and timing involved. Not all animals can time this spurt even with a Jockey guiding them and that's just a small sample to everything that actually happening.

and that's the lure of Horse Racing to people who like it...

  4. I personally don't understand why so many people find volleyball interesting, or for that matter golf.

It's a sport. People find it interesting, whether it's exciting to them or they like horses or any such thing. If you don't like it, find your own sport.

  5. most people dont its more of a betting kind of thing that people injoy

  6. well get off the horse racing category then .

  7. Maybe those people that like horses, like me.

  8. mike d is a idiot

  9. Eeuh, money!!

  10. Some love horses. It's a horrible way of showing it, forcing horses to race, breading them just for that and killing them.

Some are gambling morons that can't control their addiction so they follow the "sport".

  11. I ride for a racehorse trainer, I hate watching the sport on tv, but love going to the races.  I guess its what you're in to, and how much knowledge you have of it really.

  12. The reason that I like horse racing interesting is that when you sit on a horse, you feel like a king. You feel like you own the world. It is the most expensive sport after all, but a person in any age can participate. My 12 year old son is going to participate in the Equestrian Jumping Olympics in Singapore, the first youth olympics. When you ride a horse, you feel like you are talking with the horse, why she is acting strange, why is she sneezing a lot, and the horse feels you. When you are angry at the time you ride on her, the horse is also angry. You share feelings to each other, you love each other. And, lots of horse lovers have been taking care of there horses since they were little tiny foals, and presently they grow up, and become champions of a tournament. In that situation, you love a horse like your own son, and would never give anything away for her. Loving a horse very hardly, you would never give her away, not even if she shold for 10 million dollars. You will be with her from the very beginning of her life, to the very end. It is the only sport where a human and animal act as one player, and you have a strange connection, and in the beginning of a training, you start talking, predicting what will happen during training. When you start galloping in the beginning of a jump, you start asking her "can you do this? Are you sure your capable?" and in your head, you hear her answer "of course, together we can do anything." You can say that connectino is telecommunication. It may not be such a popular sport, but the first time you start galloping on a horse, any person would want to start training on a horse. Just try to train on a horse, you will understand by what people say by "connection". You feel so happy for a horse when she gets a baby, and you give that horse to your son or daughter. I think the biggest connection between human and animal is humans and horses. With which other animal do you talk with? With no other.......just with a horse. You are with a horse for the rest of your life, once you have one.

I have my own stable for horses, my favorite is my horse called Secret, like up above, i take care of her, and am with her since the day she was born. Now she is 7 years old, 8 in October, and I love her a lot....by a lot.....I mean a lot......This may sound strange to you but when you are in my situation, you will understand. My wife participates in dressage, very very astounding, i don't even know how it works. Just go to a stable or farm one day, try riding on a horse yourself, try galloping, and start talking to one. You will be in love for the rest of your life.

  13. I like it because my dad used to be a jockey.  I've been watching it my entire life, and it's more fun to bet on horses than to go to a casino.

  14. The reason I love racing is the glory of the sport. I love racing for the same reason that I love riding... For the short time that the race lasts or that I'm jumping my course at a horse show or even riding around in a field, the horse and the rider become one... we work together perfectly... we work to make something beautiful. It's not only racing... it's morning workouts at the track too, maybe even more than racing. The horse and rider out alone on the track together and all you can hear are the 4 hoof beats pounding on the ground. It doesn't matter to me whether I'm on the horse or just watching them methodically ride by... it's just a wonderful feeling that I get when I feel the rhythm of the horse... I can't really describe it... it's just like the horse and rider are working together with one mind in perfect harmony.

When I ride, the horse becomes part of me and the horse feels the same as I do. When I ride my horse, she knows everything that I'm going to ask her to do, before I even move to ask her. When she gets in stride for her canter and she turns toward the first jump and she starts making that sort of snorting noise with every stride, then she starts lengthening her stride to take me up and over the jump... It's like we're soaring together... and she wants to take me to the jump just as much as I want her to go to the jump. I know I'm not explaining this very well for a person who has never ridden horses to understand, but it's just a feeling that's really hard to put into words.

How that transfers over to horse racing is because I feel the same way about my horse as I do about every horse I see racing. I know that connection that I get with my horse and I can see that between horse and rider in every race. What I mean when I say horses love racing is not just that they love running wild, but they love teaming up with the rider and they love the game of trying to beat all the other horses too.

Horses are truly our heroes. Some kids grow up idolizing football players or movie stars... but I grew up with horses as my favorite athletes. There's a beauty in every horse to cross the wire that you don't see in baseball or football or any other sport.

It's the beauty and the glory of the whole sport. Sure there's a lot of money involved and the naysayers will always say that we like racing only because of the money not because of the horses or any other reason. The truth is, I watch horse racing almost every day, but in my lifetime I have placed only a single bet and won a spectacular $2. For me, it's the tradition and romance of the sport. There's something about going to a 150 year old race track and seeing horses run across the same surface that Secretariat and Seattle Slew ran on before.

  15. cause there's LOTS of MONEY involved.. :)

  16. the horses are beautiful and they are powerful
