http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833, the former goalkeeper of Parma, has gone on to reiterate his principles by stating that he would be looking to signing a short contract with Juventus
Buffon has had a long and illustrious career with the Bianconeri outfit, and has gone on to justify the stupendous money that was spent on him by the Turin giants back in 2001. He was signed by Parma in the summer of 2001 for a world record fee to be paid
for a professional football goalkeeper, with the amount being 100 billion lire, which was approximately 52 million Euros, for the services of the Italian goalkeeper.
He has lived up to the burden of being the most expensive footballer to this day, and it is astonishing to see the level of standard he has kept for himself and he is the goalkeeper everyone aspires to be while playing in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 and around the world. He has
seen off competition from many great goalkeepers of his era, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Toldo-c13939 in the Italian colours, and is still the national team goalkeeper.
At the age of 34 years old, Buffon is at the twilight of his career and also in the last year of his contract; however, whereas other players start making a fuss out of such a situation at the beginning of the last year, Buffon has remained calm. In the
past he has gone on to state that there is no hurry and that there are other important objectives that the team needs to fulfil before the spotlight comes to him.
When the topic of his contract negotiations came afloat in the upcoming match, the former Gialloblu star player went on to make another confession, that he would not like a lengthy contract. He reminded everyone that he was an honest man with integrity,
and was quoted to have said:
“We are getting close to finalising the deal, but we have to discuss the length, as I would like a short contract. I don’t want to take anyone’s money without deserving it. I have had an important career and I think I can continue for another two or three
years if I maintain certain motivation and targets. It’s about self-esteem too.”
In general, players seek lengthy contracts while in their twilight, but Buffon remains an enigma to this day.
