I just don't know if it is safe to eat anymore. Also, I have a problem with the way animals are treated on corporate farms.

  1. You could buy from local farmers or take up hunting if you get tired of being a vegetarian.  If you have a big freezer you can pick out a cow and have it slaughtered and butchered.

  2. That is a perfect reason. My hubby and I started growing our own veggies because I just don't know what to expect out of store bought ones..

  3. there are alternatives - you can buy from local sources, some farmers markets, and on the internet from places like Heritage Foods.

Checkout localharvest.org and you can buy directly from the person raising the food.  You'll know where it comes from and know how the animals are treated.

  4. you don't have to eat meat if you don't want to, but that's a dumb reason to do it: why don't you know the source of the meat? just too lazy to find out?

"the way animals are treated on corporate farms" is a good reason to eat animals raised free-range on local farms.

and if you look at the numbers, meat today is infinitely safer to eat than it was 100 years ago! read "the jungle" by upton sinclair!

  5. Of course it is, good for you for actually giving a toss about what you consume!

  6. Do your own butchering, every fall we get a cow, and a couple hogs for butchering, then you know where the meat comes from, what its been fed, that there are  NO chemicals in it (we fatten them for a few weeks before butchering)  and you also know they were killed quickly and humanely.

  7. It is not a Good Reason.

    > say one's Religion (Buddhism, Jainism,a section of Hinduism-"Saiva"/"Vaishnava) prohibits meat or even Egg eating,Alcohol,Smoking,Tobacco in any form, drugs etc -it is a different matter.

    > or more and more Scientific evidences might be coming out that Cardio/Cerebro Vascular accidents or certain types of Neoplasm(Colo-rectal Cancer) may be caused by red meat etc may cause the "Panic Reaction" and many "escape" routes like sudden concern for Animals' welfare are searched.

  8. I think any reason is a good reason to stop eating meat.

  9. I guess it's as good a reason as any, but do you know where your fruits and vegetables come from?  How do you know they're any safer than meat sources?

  10. You don't need to give anyone a reason as to why you don't eat meat. It is your own personal decision, and no one elses business.

If you want to explain to someone your reasoning, more power to you; hopefully it will encourage others to go veg as well. But never feel like you need to "prove yourself" to meat eaters.

  11. Is that a good reason to YOU?   That's all that matters love.   Trust me.......no sense in trying to please others there's always going to be that someone who disagrees with you no matter what you say so....   ESPECIALLY with why I became a vegetarian.....I have given all the reasons out possible...none of them seem to be good enough for anyone who wants to argue with you about your decision being wrong or what not.....so is it good enough for you?   Do you like it....that's all that matters love trust me.

  12. of course! ive been vegan for a way long time and it honestly isnt that wierd.  its also healthier to be vegetarian!

  13. Thats particially the reason I became vegan, I didnt know where my food was coming from, so I couldnt know how the animals were treated.

Its perfectly fine.acutally, I encourage it!

  14. you don't have to justify why you stopped eating meat. if you want to you can, its not against the law to not have a reason. and who is to say a reason is good or bad. as long as you are happy, that's good enough.

if you want to eat meat where the animals are treated well then how about trying free range or something like that. i wouldn't know because I'm vegetarian too. anyway i hope i helped =)

  15. Of course it is.  It's not really a good idea to eat some thing and not know where it comes from or what it is

  16. That's a perfectly fine reason to stop eating meat if it's good enough for you.
