I don't get why it why is this joke funny..?

Question

there was a young priest who has to fill in for Father Brian one weekend.

He has to take a confession from a prostitute.

But having never been exposed to such things before is unsure of what atonement to assign for her sins.

As he's pondering this he sees the head alter boy and thinks, "He'll know, he's been around a while"

So he asks: "John, what does father Brian give for oral s*x?" The boy answers: "A can of Coke and a Mars Bar usually, why?"

Some idiot thinks it's what he should pay the lady.  No no no.  The priest is asking the alter boy what punishment is normally given for oral s*x.  The alter boy, being an alter boy, has been abused by the priest (aren't they all!) and thinks he's being asked at what the other priest bribes the alter boys with for giving him oral s*x.

Typical English humour here as all of our priests in this country are kiddie fiddlers and the church are even worse as they stand up for these priests and they're never convicted.  Good old religion it is.......  Gary Glitter is applying for his priestship as we speak.  He'll get one!

Some people will find it funny for the same reasons that others won't.
