  1. Probably nothing.  However there is a chance that you will have an adverse reaction and will need medical help.

Try explaining in the E.R. how you got controlled drugs that aren't prescribed to you.  I wouldn't take that risk.

If you need energy go run around the block a couple of times.  :)

  2. Why take it if you don't have it...

I tried taking Ritalin (Methylphynidate) 20mg

just to stay awake... through college courses and finish tests, I also had some mild Panic from it too...

  3. Lots of people take controlled stimulants to help them concentrate, like for exams or important meetings. While they are definitely useful, users should really have a perscription (and all the bloodwork that goes along with it) before taking any. Adderal (amphetamine salts) and concerta (ritalin base, I don't know the drug family but suffice to say it is different than adderal) have different, and sometimes long term ill effects.

Amphetamine salts can cause or contribute to heart defects, kidney and liver disorders, elevated potassium levels, stomach disorders, dehydration, insomnia, and a slew of mental disorders. People taking it should have blood tests done to determine whether or not there will be any lasting or dangerous side effects.

Ritalin type stimulants have similar effects, but the link between mental disorders, heart problems and usage has been much more thoroughly documented since the drug has been in use longer. It is sometimes associated with hair loss and acne.

Both families are addictive, whether mentally (adderall) or physically (ritalin).

People with ADD and ADHD should definitely have access to these drugs, since it is very difficult to function normally without them. But unperscribed use only makes it more diffficult to obtain for those who genuinely need it, due to more and more restrictive laws. Not to mention potentially bad side effects.

If you think you need to use concerta, go to a doctor and get a diagnosis. It may even save you money by purchasing a perscription than by buying it from "that guy you know".
