  1. you  should  not leave the hamster alone it could  die

  2. I would watch it for you if I could.  Nice brother.  It isn't hard to care for a hamster.  Just remember this when he needs a favor.  I am surprised that your mom wouldn't make him take care of the hamster.  Anyway, just leave a lot of water and a lot of food.  He should be fine.  My hamster also eats very little.  I hope that he does okay.  Too bad you can't take your hamster with you.  Don't you have a friend who could watch him at their house? It is so easy to care for a hamster.  I was looking at some of the other responses.  Hamsters don't need fresh fruits and vegetables.  I have never given my hamster fruits and veggies.  She doesn't have a choice in this matter so don't make her feel bad.  I think that her hamster will be fine.  You could tell your brother that you left plenty of food and water but could he just check every few days to make sure he is doing okay.  I can't believe he won't help you out unless he is afraid of your hamster.  Good luck.  Just wanted to add that I have hamster experience and that I have had to leave her for a week or more with no help so I just left her plenty to eat and drink and she did fine.

  3. Yep he'll be fine for a wk, it's just you'll have a very stinky cage when you get back, but also some vets will watch them for like $5 a day, or even pet stores.

  4. yeah just leave him alot of food and water..

    he'll be fine (:

  5. yeah he'll probably be fine. another alternative is automatic feeders? but yeah you will definetely have to clean his cage when you get back.  good luck and hope i helped!!

  6. i would watch him :]

    but yes, he'll be fine

  7. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

It's not just about enough food and drink (and they will both go manky towards the end of your holiday) (and hamsters need more than just seed in there - what about the fresh fruit & vegetables it won't be getting). What if your hamster injurs itself or gets sick and needs ergent medical attention - you may come back to a dead hamster. For the sake of it's life - beg, bargin or bribe your brother - all he has to do is look in on it, drop in some seed and fresh food and keep up the water level, 5 year olds have hamsters that they look after! Or give it to a neighbour, a friend. A child would be brilliant to give it too (if you knew them and trusted them or trusted their parent/carer) because they'll give your hamster lots of love, exercise, and playing with it will make their week - plus you'll it'll be really ccheap because £1 to a child is about £25/£30 to an adult.

Please don't leave your hamster by itself - it's wrong on multipe levels.

I just read that you were going for a month!! You can't be serious leaving it on it's own!! It will die, get seriously injured, or even shorten it's life. Don't be ridiculous!

  8. should be fine just make sure he has a LOT of food and water check to make sure his cage is closed up good don't want him to escape well you are gone.

  9. A Month?

    Thats a long time..

Just pay your brother to feed him..

  10. NO NO NO , he i s aliving animal , the food will go mank and the water will go stale , who will clean him out and put him out for exersize dont be silly ask a neighbour or friend but dont leave it on itsown for god sake. have a nice holiday by the way .

  11. A month is far too long to leave a hamster alone for.  It would constitute neglect.  Your brother is being very selfish; can your parents talk to him?  You may be able to offer a rescue organisation a donation in exchange for taking care of it maybe.  I only leave mine along for a maximum of two days.

  12. the only thing is if your brother just fill up the feed bowl every week but it is abit dodgy because the cage will get very dirty personly i wouldnt leave it i would let a freind or neighbor care for it

    I AGREE WITH R

  13. no food can be spoiled in a bout a moth ...so if your hamster eats spoiled food it will die!!!

and you need to clean the water bowl daily
