I don't have car insurance but i have a license?

I'm confused, i dont have my own car but i drive my mothers car and THAT car has insurance. I dont get it, if i drive it do i need insurance under my name or is it good enough if the car has insurance under her name? I hope i havent been driivng illegally all along....

  1. You should get on your mom's policy.   What you doing is what a lot of people do.   Your probly ok but no guarantees.

    Ask if the policy has permissible use.  If it does your probly ok.   That means anyone is covered if you let them use your car.


  2. alot of people are doing what you're doing and there is no problem. now driving without insurance o r driver license that is different.

  3. you need to get your name put on you mums insurance policy.

  4. Check with your mom's insurance agent. You need insurance as a driver, as well as the car you are driving. At least my brother found that out in Ohio. She can add you as a rider (driver) on her vehicle insurance, as a licensed driver. Or you can have your driver's license insured separate, which covers any licensed/insured vehicle you may be driving. If you get caught before one of these is accomplished, you can lose your driver's license for up to a year. Good enough?
