I don't have any health insurance, and I just found out that I'm pregnant. What insurance companies will accept me, and my coverage will start immediately, no waiting period?

I don't qualify for medicade/care/or wic.

  1. better get some welfare medical coupons if you were denied before you may be able to get them now that you have a baby in there, there is no way you can get care without money or insurance,,,you can also go to planned parenthood for your checks and they might be able to hook you up with a low to no cost provider, also try the local community health center...good luck.  This country's health care system is being held hostage by insurance company's and the way they extort money.... ALL AMERICANS SHOULD BE PROVIDED QUALITY HEALTHCARE WITHOUT INSURANCE!!!!!

  2. Some times when you join a large corporation, their plans cover pre-existing conditions, because otherwise people wouldn't leave one company for another. The wait is a month, but the expensive part is the birth.

I was a winter season employee and got pregnant in June. I had to go back as a full-time ski instructor in order to get coverage which I did. My expenses were $17,000 because my son picked up an infection at the hospital which are havens for germs.  The insurance covered most of it.

You have to watch out for hospitals. They used to allow you to pay off your bill over time. Now they are issuing credit cards and putting the charges on the card. This is causing people to go bankrupt. In my state, the hospital must treat you, so this credit card idea is a way to keep the hospital in business.

  3. As was previously posted, group insurer's through employers cannot consider pregnancy preexisting. So if you can find a job with group insurance, you should be OK. This will also be beneficial for you and your baby after it's birth, since healthcare will be expensive, even for a healthy baby.

You say you don't qualify for state assistance but you might want to look into it anyway, since they have many different programs and allowable income levels for pregnancy.)

The other option is pay a discounted cash rate for your OB and delivery. Ask your dr about this and also inquire at the hospital you plan on using, since they usually require this to be paid up front and usually in full by the time you deliver. Take into account those types of things that sometimes come up-epidurals, c-sections and don't forget the pediatrician that will need to do a basic exam (and possible circumcision) in the hospital after birth. Also, look into the possibility of getting your little person their own coverage if employer based or "daddy's" coverage is not a possibility.

  4. congratulations on your coming baby.

some of the next generation ladies in my extended family have done this a few times in all in multiple states.  They all did fine.

and no -- there is no insurance company that'll pay your bills on this one.  insurance is about possible future events, not known present events.  and your pregnancy is known.

  5. depending on how much money you got. Why dont you qualify for medicade!! If money isnt the problem, your doctor should be able to lead you in the right path on insurance, cause they want to get paid..believe that, anyways congradulations on the miracle ,God will provide for you anything you need so put it in his hands. GOD BLESS YOU...
