Tuna: this seems like a VERY valid rumor though. TSN wouldn't post it if it wasn't. It makes a lot of sense too, they want to sell the sport more, and Melrose is probably like, the 2nd most sell-able coach after Gretzky.

Please read the article. Torts has not been fired yet. The new owner has not bought the team yet.   And Melrose has not signed a contract yet. Wow this sure looks like a rumor to me.  May be a likely one but it is still a rumor at this point.

I heard about this rumor on ESPN a couple days ago. It isn't official but, it sure looks like it will come true once the team is sold.

I think the new owners have realized that although Tortorella has had success, recently he has not, and during his tenure their were some questionable things that went on, such as when he wanted Lecavalier out, and Feaster had to step in and tell him to "work it out, I'm not trading Lecavalier". Then last year, Tortorella and Craig Ramsey assistant coach all of a sudden after 7 years of working together couldn't get along. Craig left and defensively this team suffered. Then there was Dave Andreychuck who retired because Tortorella didn't want to play him. Cory Stillman after the cup year wasn't given a new contract because he and the coach at times had problems, Vinny Prospal got traded this year because he and Tortorella were on the outs. Both Shane O'Brien and Andre Roy were bench for numerous games at the end of this season because of not getting along with the coach. I'm sure there are more....but thats all I can think of right now.

Sometimes a coaching change is good, maybe a person who has sat back and watched the NHL and this team can come in with an open mind and change things for the good.
