help! I'm a sophomore and i like to go to parties and stuff with my friends who are all pretty confident with dancing. I'm really self conscious because i don't know how to dance and am afraid to at parties, sometimes i just get really drunk so then it doesn't matter if my dancing looks bad, but id rather be able to have fun dancing sober if i only knew how! i don't want to get laughed at or anything... everyone always looks like they are having fun dancing, but i know absolutely no moves. i could be so much more confident if i knew just some basic moves just to get by normally at parties without completely avoiding the dance floor. what do i do!!

  1. i feel like i am reading a question i should have posted!! lol. i am 25 and i still dont know how to dance. i only do it drunk and only when my other girlfriends are up dancing. i would love nothing more than to get up there and shake my a - - and look good doin it!!

it makes u feel stupid, doesn't it? (And, HEY, ANNONYMOUS COOKIE, i am that girl eating nachos!!! lol)

as to the solution - i have been thinking about taking a dance lesson. it doesn't even matter what kind you take. just take something that teaches you to move in rythm to the music and gives you a little self confidence boost because that's really the only reason you can't dance

  2. my advice: take dance lessons hun! :)

with dance lessons.. you will become more confident in dancing and you will also feel more f**t.

  3. don't feel bad...i don't no how to dance either...i hate dancing and singing for that matter

  4. Loosin up thats the biggest thing. Even if you feel dumb you probably dont look as bad as you think. I danced for 14 years of my life a lot of it is in the hips. Just go with the music and lossin up. It is really hard to teach someone through a computer but listen to some music and try to just let your body go. Do it in a mirra see what looks good, or ask a close friend thats good to show you. Dont be shy go out and have a good time. The more you dance the better you will get. Don't worry i am sure not everyone there can dance, a lot of people have trouble dancing. Good luck!

  5. just let your self flow with the music, dont go too drastic. if its a slow song be slow moving, if its a faster paced song move along with with the pace of the music.

  6. okay well first of all, ur viewing this from ur point of view. (obviously). if everyone is out there having fun dancing and ur just not joining them, then thats something wrong. if ur dancing with them, it doesnt even matter how bad u look. at least ur dancing! u can do stupid moves and people'll still respect ya. its all about having fun. there aint no wrong in having fun.

  7. Okay. I've been a dancer for eleven years now and its not as hard as it looks. When you dance you pretty much do whatever. Dancing is about showing how you feel. So pretty much you just bob your head and jump around. One of the basic steps is just stepping side to side. Once you've got that down you can add different stuff to it. You can shake your hips, or you can add arm movements into it. If you remember what your friends did at a party, practice at home in a mirror. I bet you won't look bad. I hope i've been at least somewhat of a help. Happy partying!

  8. Okay, have a friend teach you to dance. It's not hard. You move. A lot. With music.

And I pray you don't mean sophomore in high school, otherwise I really hope you get busted for "getting really drunk".

  9. So when I'm at a party, I see this girl standing off by herself. When everyone else is dancing, shes standing there eating nachos. Then I think, "what the h**l?" Now Hun, do you wanna be the girl standing there eating nachos by herself? No. People notice you when your not doing anything, but when everyones dancing, its fun! You don't think you can dance, but seriously, I've seen girls who are probably worse than you. They dance like sticks, but when they're dancing with me, nothing comes in mind. Just let the music take over you. Body roll all you want, grind it, do something- just don't be the girl standing there watching everyone else.

Or let your friends take you, and they'll lead you. Trust me, when girls dance all together, it can get pretty dirty. JOIN in with the crowd, GO in , no ones gonna notice how bad you are. you probably aren't that bad! You can always go on youtube and search up, "how to dance," lol. You shouldn't feel self-conscious, when people see you dance- it'll pump them up to the same.

:) Trust me on this . This kind of situation is something I can't tell you WHAT to do, its something you have to do. Your scared to dance, its your choice to get over it. Do it hun.
