(10 month old baby) She completely rejects any kind of jar food, I've been giving her cooked chicken breast and whole grain toast, it's all I can get her to eat. Now that she is off of jar food, I was wondering if anyone knew what foods were okay and what to avoid, or a good website that has a food chart or something, maybe a dietitian or nutritionist made? I'm basically just trying to find out the HEALTHIEST foods for a baby that no longer eats jar foods.

  1. Yo Baby yogurt

    Oatmeal

    Pancakes

    Pudding

    Jello

    Carrots

    Bananas

    Steamed Veggies

  2. try cut up small peaces of apple pears .carrots fruit .jelly .cheese..

  3. she can eat anything you eat. Just cut it up really small for her. My kids were both on table foods at that age.  I always keep frozen veggies. It's easy to take out a serving for the little ones for lunch or snack.

  4. She's young enough to still be nursing at the breast. That's what's the most nutritious.

Whatever you do, don't give her things she must chew with teeth. You can mash (cooked) veggies for her...

  5. To add to Nicole's list:

Green beans (cut into small pieces)

    Peas (my son LOVES these)

    Cheerios

These foods also help with fine motor development as they try to pick up each one individually.

I forgot to mention. Cut grapes into quarters.

We take a small container fo cheerios or cut grapes to restaurants and these are great for keeping him occupied while we wait for food.

  6. Well I don't know about healthy, but I would try fresh fruits, banana's, apple slices (which help with teething), but try one a week, due to figuring out allergies. Also cubed cheese very small pieces and small pieces of lunch meat..ham..turkey etc. are good.

Also, she can have cherrios, and try cheese grits. Um, she also can have like brown rice, mashed potato's and gravy...all that good stuff.

If you are really concerned about going the most healthy way, I would call her doctor.

  7. cow&gate is a great site. distraction is the best way i found to get my child to eat. give your little girl a bowl and a spoon and let her play and think she is feeding herself. while you get her meal into her. avoid liver and soft cheeses and under cooked eggs.

  8. you can give her any thing, with the exception of honey (doctors recommend no honey until age 1) My daughter is the same age and I haven't been able to feed her jarred food for about 2 months, and have been giving her everything the rest of the family is eating, but keep in consideration she doesn't have molars.
