Hey Guys, I got a question

So here it goes...

I have 12 inch Type R - 1222D version, and I have a MRP-M500 Mono block Amp.

And I have it wired like so

Dual Voice Coil Sub

+..-..+..-..

|...|...|...|

|....=.....|

|...........|

the outer terminals are connected to the amp, and the inner terminals are joined together; and this is 4 ohm load;

the amp is rated at

2 ohm x 1 = 500 w and 4 ohm x 1 = 300 watts.

Now the sub is rated 500 rms, so I figured I'm under powering my sub. So my question is how can I wire this it powers the sub at 500W and If this amp is one ohm stable?

Thanks a lot, and

I'm not car audio saavy, it took me ALOT of research to get this

point, so thanks ahead of time for your patience. = )

  1. If you put 1 ohm on the amp, the amp would go into protect mode and shut down.

See my site for the info you needed http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

  2. Well the way you have your sub is wired correct, and that is all you can get out of it.

Your amp does not look to be 1ohm stable.

Maybe sell the sub you have now and buy a Type R 1242D and then you can get your 2ohm load.

    Reply,

It will most likely burn the amp up.
