I don't know if being a nurse is right for me?

How do I know if it's right for me or not?

I don't want to waste all the time and energy put in school, can someone give me a list of the best characreristcs that a nurse

MUST have in order to succeed in the nursing industry?

Take a CNA course and work for a little while. This lets you do the dirty stuff, like washing and toileting. Nursing involves a LOT more, but it lets you see if you can handle the nasty stuff and if you can handle the patient contact.

I would not call nursing boring. You may not get your dream job right out of college, but there are TONS of specialties you could go into. If you get bored, there are all sorts of ways to change things up. If you get your BSN you could then go for your masters to be and NP if you wanted, then you would be doing some of the basic work that doctors do- you could write prescriptions and deal with basic cases. WIthin that there are tons of specialties too. YOu could certainly find a stable job with pay to support your family, though generally it is hard to find a 9-5 Mon-Fri job you should still be able to feel secure.

You can't go into nursing JUST for the money and security, but it is a valid concern and it doesn't sound like its your only reason. Good luck!

I thought about it to. and decided that it is for me.  i took the cna class interned in a nursing home and it was cool just helping the sick. also for some reason i am scared to actually work as a cna. i am going to taking my pre-regs. gosh i never thought it would be this hard.. i have to pay out of my pocket becuse i havent received any financial aid. and that sucks but i know that in my heart i want to be a nurse. but i am afraid to wrok as a cna which i want to do to get the experience and be the best nurse possible. i think that the nursing field is a good one.lot of opportuinities.
