  1. That seems ok.600 miles is only oil and filter change, but it's also the most important as they have/should go over bike to make sure all is tight and adjusted properly.Your hand book will cover everything that should be checked.

  2. That price sounds about right for scheduled service. If you just want an oil change, that is high, but there is a lot more to scheduled service on any bike that an oil change. Check your owners manual and it will list the various things that need to be done at different mileage levels.

  3. The price is right for the first check-up for ur bike at dealers.    You can do your own maintenance if you are mechanically inclined.   Buy the service manual for your bike.  The book is about $30.

  4. I don't know how anybody can justify a $170 oil change. You got jerked big time. If you don't mind getting your hands greasy you can do it yourself next time.

Go to autozone and buy the oil and filter yourself. They can lookup the correct oil filter for your bike on the computer. Total cost is like $12. You can change the oil and filter just like the mechanics do in about 30 minutes. You can look in the calipers to see how much brake pads is left. You can wiggle the chain with your fingers to see if it's too loose. A visual inspection of all hoses and connections will complete everything they'd do for $170, and all you paid was $12 and 30 minutes.

Buy the service manual and ask some fellow riders for tips and tricks for maintenance. Wrenching is like building your relationship with your bike.
