  1. no it is no like gas...it is an additive that explodes at a much higher/hotter rate than gas. it would just blow your scooter up. but here is a definition of NOS..by the way it is nitrious oxide and NOS is just a name brand for the product.

wikipedia- Nitrous oxide (aka laughing gas, funny gas, nitrogen suboxide, or dinitrogen monoxide) is a chemical compound with the chemical formula N2O. At room temperature, it is a colorless non-flammable gas, with a pleasant, slightly sweet odor and taste. It is used in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic and analgesic effects. It is commonly known as "laughing gas" due to the euphoric effects of inhaling it, a property that has led to its recreational use as an inhalant drug. It is also used in motor racing as an oxidizer to increase the power output of engines.

  2. NOS is actually a brand name for a manufacturer of nitrous oxide injection systems. If you are asking if it is a liquid like gasoline, no, it isn't. It is a gas, like oxygen. Or, you could compare it to propane, like is used for a gas barbeque grille. The actual gas that is injected into the engine is nitrous oxide-N2O. The gas flows from a cylinder commonly called the "bottle" that looks similar to the bottles used for acetylene torches. It runs through tubing and solenoids activated by switches to the carburator or fuel injection system of your engine. It is then mixed with the fuel/air mixture going into the combustion chambers. Since it is a gas it will eventually run out and need to be refilled. Refills can usually be done at places that deal with compressed gasses for welding as well as some speed shops. There is also medical grade N2O which is used in dentist offices. The amount of time it takes to empty the bottle depends on the size of the bottle as well as the size of the jets used in the system. The jets determine the amount of nitrous flowing into the engine-the bigger the jet the more nitrous. This is what determines the amount of added power.

If you don't know much about nitrous, I would recomend that you read up on it and talk to different manufacturers to decide what system will best fit your needs. You can get books at any speed shop and the ads always have web sites and toll free tech lines for you to call with questions.

Just remember- nitrous oxide injection is a very potent power adder so it's best to know exactly what you are dealing with before you get seriously hurt or even killed by adding too much at one time.
