Question:

I don't know what this thing that hangs from the ceiling is called..?

this is how my mom describes it :

above the bed, on the ceiling theres this circular thing and from that hangs a lacy curtain thing (like a canopy bed) (or some sort of light fabric.)down over the bed...and we don't know what it's called..

please help us out!

  1. Mosquito netting.  I know you don't use it to keep the bugs out, but people used to years ago and still do in other parts of the world.  Americans started using them for decoration.


  2. Sounds like mosquito netting.  It's so the bugs won't bother you while you're sleeping.

  6. It's a free-standing (IOW, not attached to the bed) circular bed canopy hanger.

    Circular is the operative word... else folks think of a rectangular wooden structure attached to the bed or the ceiling when they hear "canopy."

    If you're looking to make one, look for a metal hoop about 2' in diameter for a twin bed, larger for larger beds.
