  1. my guitar teacher started me out just learning some basic chords. eg. A, D, E

then he got me to just practice the chord changes til i was good at that then he put me onto some really really simple songs, like "Tom Dooley" and "He's got the whole world in his hands".

then i started finding some songs and bringing them to him and i started to learn them. when i came to a chord i didnt know, i'd practise it by just goin over the chord changes.

Thats pretty much how it worked for me, its just really alot of practise

  2. Start by finding songs that you would like to play.  After listening to them a couple of times, go to www.ultimate-guitar.com and look up the tabs to the song.  If you don't know how to read tablature, you should learn because it will make the whole guitar learning process easier.

If the song you like appears to be of your playing level, just go for it.  If the song is wuite popular, there might even be youtube videos of people teaching you how to play it.

    Good Luck and have fun.

  3. Start off with learning a little about the kind of guitar you have and what kind of equipment is best such as strings, picks, and amplifier. As for learning songs, start off with short, basic tunes that will help you familiarize yourself with the frets and help you learn proper fingering. Remember, start off basic and work your way up.

    Rock on!
