Sorry this may be long...

I use to live in Ohio with my mother. My parents are divorced. My mom had joint custody but she was my gaurdian at the time. She decided to move from Ohio to Tennessee, and did not want me to come with her, so I was forced to move in with my dad and step-mom, in Michigan.

Now I want to move back, it's only 77 days until my 18th birthday when I can legally move out, but I want to go back to Ohio before school starts. Is there anyway I can do that? Or I was thinking about somehow getting my mom to get custody of me again, then trying to get emancipated from her. My dad refuses to let me move back to Ohio. He doesn't think it's best, but I have plenty of friends to stay with there. But my job, friends, and high school are there. It's my senior year. I want to keep all my classes. I have a place to stay there, free of rent, and I have 1,000 dollars saved up in my bank account.

I don't know what to do.

  1. You sound mature but only being 17, that is not old enough to live without parents/guardians.  Is there a close friend's parent that is willing to watch over you while you finish your last year of high school?  If so, tell your dad who will be watching you and that you will make sure to call him daily or weekly to check in.   Make sure you keep up your grades and if they fall you would move back with in him and your step mom since your mother does not seem to be in the picture right now.  Good Luck.
