I recently got this email from someone I used to work for, in a contract job. (I wasn't happy in this job, as the people were a bit patronising towards me.)In it, it said...

I just wanted to let you know that we're putting out a call for applicants for ****** positions for the coming year. I want to open up the call and hopefully get as many possible applicants for the positions as possible. If you were interested in the ******* position I'd be happy to consider you for it, but we'll be reviewing all the applications from interested parties before we offer the position to anyone. Let me know how you feel about it anyway and how you're getting on in general!

  1. they are offering you a chance at applying for the job.

  2. If you weren't happy at the job I would avoid going back, unless you are in a position where you need a job.  It's really up to you.  Do you need a job more than it bothered you that they were patronizing?  If you do apply that doesn't mean you can't continue to look for work somewhere else.

  3. They are obviously recruiting and would like to see if you would apply for the job.

  4. You said you were not happy in this job. Why bother with it now?  how do you feel about going back? Be careful about emails.
