there's just so many things to consider.

i believe anything is possible (ex. reincarnation, greek mythology being true, ghosts). not too sure what i think about heaven or h**l. but then again anything is possible in my eyes. guess one day i'll find out if there is a judgment day at some grand, magical gate.

guess my question is....not really sure. just confused

beliefs are just thoughts accepted as true. i heard this sometime ago and i believe it.

  1. A little on the fence? What do you think got the question going in the first place? Is society the source of the belief, or does it come from some where inside, like the soul?  Is it activated by God, when he calls on you to start to learn, or simply that people get bored one day. We all ask the question "where did I come from" when we were young. After learning the answer, why does that not satisfy most. Why does it feel like there are more answers then just Mommy's tummy? There must be a reason why we question these things and if evolution were the real answer, the question would be satisfied and die down naturally. Yet when you study God, and read the letters he left (the Bible) with understanding, most people feel they have as much an answer as possible. Not to mention, a feeling of peace and security.  Maybe since you're asking the question, God is calling on you to start your true education.  A good source of just teaching and not preaching or begging for money is "The Shepherd's Chapel" with Pastor Arnold Murray @  www.shepherdschapel.com. It is bible study that you can validate on your own, so you don't have to take anyone word on it, and then you will know for yourself. After all, we enter this world alone and naked.  We face our Father alone and naked. All you get to take with you is what your soul learns and earns.  Is it time to GET BUSY?

  2. Some people would tell you to start with various different holy books (depending on their religion) but I think it's important to get a variety of different opinions before you decide on your own.  Try finding encyclopedia articles about different types of theism (I think Wikipedia has a fascinatin series of articles on the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God ).  Consider atheism or agnosticism, and always try to be open to new ideas.

At the same time, it's important to come up with your own theories and ideas, since that's where the value of philosophy is).  Spend some time coming up with your own, unbiased views about what "God" is, what you want to call it, what it does (if anything), and how it relates to the universe and life.

Believe me, the study of different types of theism is great fun.

  3. well you're right there's much to consider. but if you're not sure what to think of it, if your mind is open, and you ask the right questions and find the right answers, i think you will inevitably find out it doesn't exist.

  4. you are god. you, being god/life/experience/the soul, have existed forever, and will exist forever. After your current life, you will probably live every possible life that can exist, in your infinite future. Or perhaps you will only live the lives that are worth living; if there is such a thing.

  5. thinking won't get you to God...

if that's where you want to go

believe or believe not...there is no try

either from your heart not your head.

if you are just worried about being judged than you may as well choose to believe according to Pascal

or.. Denny Crane:     "if you believe in God, and it turns out there’s no God,there’s no harm, no foul. But if you don’t believe in God, and it turns out there is one, you’re screwed."

       .

  6. Simply only you have the answer. It is your journey and only you must decide what your destination is.

When somebody is confused you immediately become stressed, when there simply is no reason, from within confusion come answers. Ask more questions and find the answers. Ask even more questions and find even more answers. Confusion is not an end but a temporary block, which means you are near to at least some aspects of your queries.

First question to ask is 'are you looking for a specific belief to adhere to', in other words do you want to follow a particular path. How do you connect to the idea of a higher being and in what way. You looking for a spiritual path, a spiritual journey or just something to adhere to.

You want to follow something b/c you have to or you want to. What atheism, humanism etc. Have you read anything about religions and believes in consideration; Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Confucianism, Taoism etc.

Only you have the answer, only you hold the key to unlock your path. Some times journey can be long but rewards even sweeter. Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!

"Believe nothing, O monks, merely because you have been told it … or because it is traditional, or because you yourselves have imagined it. Do not believe what your teacher tells you merely out of respect for the teacher. But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings—that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide.

  7. of all the 2,500 gods man has invented (www.godchecker.com), which one are u talking about?

  8. You can only believe in what you think is real. I am not sure myself. I hope someday I'll be more certain than I am now, but that might never happen. I guess you just have to wait and see.

  9. On the surface, everything is possible. A little thought tho' quickly narrows the field. So then pops the question. God may be possible but is it necessary?

  10. Most persons do not even suspect the existence of God and naturally they are not very keen about God. There are others who, through the influence of tradition, belong to some faith or another and catch the belief in the existence of God from their surroundings. Their faith is just strong enough to keep them bound to certain rituals, ceremonies or beliefs and rarely possesses that vitality which is necessary to bring about a radical change in one’s entire attitude towards life. There are still others who are philosophically minded and have an inclination to believe in the existence of God either because of their own speculations or because of the assertions of others. For them, God is at best an hypothesis or an intellectual idea. Such lukewarm belief in itself can never be sufficient incentive for launching upon a serious search for God. Such persons do not know of God from personal knowledge, and for them God is not an object of intense desire or endeavor.

This is a synopsis of a book entitled "God Speaks." The book was written in 1955 by Meher Baba and explains the meaning of life.

Life is a journey that God is traveling.

The first phase of God's journey is evolution. It is initiated from a totally unconscious God as if an infinite Ocean of Knowledge, Power and Bliss were in a state likened to deep sleep. This unconscious God speaks the First Word "Who am I?". This question disrupts the limitless, undivided, absolute vacuum, and its reverberations create individualized souls, compared to drops or bubbles within the Ocean. By speaking the First Word, God establishes the process of Creation, in which he assumes evolving forms to gain increasing consciousness.

Individuality is the vehicle of this quest. Evolution marks a series of temporary answers to "Who am I?" The soul traverses a multitude of forms, beginning with simples gases and proceeding slowly through inanimate stone and mineral forms. These early evolutionary stages obviously have only the most rudimentary consciousness and cannot provide a satisfactory answer to God's original question.

The original query thus provides a continuing momentum for the drop soul to develop new forms each with greater consciousness, including the many plant and animal beings. Every evolutionary kingdom reveals new dimensions of consciousness and experience. Each also offers opportunities to gain different kinds of awareness. For example, when the soul identifies itself with varied species of fish, it experiences the world as a creature living in water conversely, as a bird, it enriches its consciousness by flying through air.

When the drop soul finally evolves to human form, consciousness is fully developed, but an individual is still not aware of the potential of his or her consciousness.

So the original "Who am I?" imperative persists and inaugurates the second phase: reincarnation. Since consciousness is fully developed, there is no longer a need for evolving new forms. The individual's experience, gathered in early stages of evolution, is now humanized and expressed in countless lifetimes. The impulses gained in sub-human forms can play themselves out in the broader context of intelligence, emotions, choices, diverse setting and interactions with people.

But obviously no single lifetime can bear the burden of "humanizing" the entire evolutionary inheritance randomly or simultaneously. There must be a method for re-experiencing the pre-human legacy in manageable segments. The soul thus experiences alternately a series of opposites, organized according to themes. Accordingly, in different lives, the soul becomes male and female, rich and poor, vigorous and weak, beautiful and ugly. Through exploring the potential of these many opposites, one eventually exhausts all possible human identities and, therefore, has fully learned the entire range of human experience.

Here begins the third phase: involution, the process by which the soul returns to the full awareness of the Divine Force, which created him. As Meher Baba puts it, "When the consciousness of the soul is ripe for disentanglement from the gross world (the everyday world of matter and forms), it enters the spiritual path and turns inward."

Like evolution, involution has certain states and stages, consisting of "planes" and "realms." But individuality continues along this spiritual path, and there are as many ways to God as there are souls.

Each new plane denotes a state of being that differs from the states that proceeded it. The first three planes are within the subtle world or domain of energy, "pran." There follows the fourth plane, the threshold of the mental world, where misuse of great power for personal desire can lead to disintegration of consciousness.

The fifth and sixth planes represent true sainthood, which is understood to be increasing intimacy with God as the Beloved. On the sixth plane, the mind itself becomes the inner eye that sees God everywhere and

  11. I wish there was one answer that would

gain everyone attention and resolve all

of their issues and doubts. That's why it's

    called..Faith.

Seek and you shall find. I could quote scriptures

to you all day; but if you're not listening with

your heart you would never receive anything

from the mere words being spoken.

Each time I seek after the Lord, he provides

me with more evidence and confirmation.

You can't see electricity yet you know it's still there.

You can't see your soul nor spirit either. Nor your thoughts

or emotions. You can't see a lot of things yet if oxygen actually

didn't exist you would surely die. If you breathe in the invisible

poisonous gases you would also die. No one can see gravity

yet without it you would drift off into space and die.

We will accept a lot of philosophies from men with ideas that sound

like the minds of supreme/superior beings. We'll accept anything

thought provoking from books. We'll even worship our own accomplishments. But to believe in a God? Why is this such a difficult pill to swallow?

I mean, think about it? For this world to just happen to come into being

by sheer chance would really indicate that a person having such a thought is as naive as they come. What they're proposing is actually

more preposterous than than their failure to "want" to believe that God

actually exists. How can anything form itself out of nothing. And if such was the case then a person could never die..they would simply

continue to keep reforming themselves over and over again. We would be more like the terminator from T3; able to take on many and any form.

Folks, God is real. If you would build a relationship with Christ you'll find the proof of the taste is in the pudding. Can I prove it to you that God is real? Of course not. But he's definitely real in my life. I couldn't do a single thing without him. He's my Lord and has saved my life/

spared me too many times to not know who he is nor what he can do.

Heaven and h**l is real. You don't want to die an enemy of Christ.

Not believing in and denying God places you against God. And if you're against God, who created you and loved you and given his mercy and grace..then you shall perish in the lake of fire and burn

throughout all eternity. The greatest trick that Satan has ever pulled,

was convincing the world that he doesn't exist. An unseen Satan

    which no one believes exists is a Satan who can do more damage;

collect more souls and do it all without appearing to be of any threat.

God-is-real. However, so are the deceptions of man's hearts.

You have to examine the truth under your own terms. It's good to be confused because at least you are taking it seriously. At least you

are having some thoughts of your own. You have to question the motives of the non-believers; for all they can offer you is h**l and are not concerned about anything more than just pride. A Believer offers

Heaven and asks for nothing in return. But all Believers aren't without their own flaws. Some are too radical. That's not what serving God is all about because only he can condemn..we can only witness to the greatness of his love. Anyone using the Bible to beat you up and make you feel horrible is no doing God's will.

Hope this assists you in any way..if not, I would have at least tried.

    Peace, love and happiness.
