I don't like wearing glasses but contacts irritate my eyes?

I've tried wearing contact lenses but they turned my eyes all reddish and it really hurt. I don't know why, but it's been about 2 years since I stopped wearing contact lenses and I really want to try again, but I'm afraid that it will just be a waste of time and money because they will irritate my eyes again. What should I do?

  1. Get a medical consult and maybe try laser eye surgery...no more contacts or glasses.

  2. hey go for a trial lens testing. it's an easy short term solution and it's fairly inexpensive. then you dont have to buy the contacts if they irritate you

  3. Try talking to your optician and doing trials with different brands. You may find that it's that 1 or a couple of brands are irritating but others are ok.

Contacts irritate my eyes too, but it's due to...

    a) I don't wear them often enough and when I do, it's for a long time so my eyes aren't used to it. Try building up tolerance by wearing them for an extra hour each day (e.g. 2hrs monday, 3hrs tuesday, 4 hrs wednesday etc)

    b) I have a problem with my tear film so have quite dry eyes. It's a common problem and can be easily helped by using eye drops that you can get at all chemists.
