I don't understand how to go about my travel insurance...?

Question

I am travelling to New Zealand this summer to snowboard for a month. I am, however, only 17 years old so I am classed as a child. I am meeting my boyfriend, who is 21, out there. I've been looking for quotes on the internet but they all require me to enter how many adults I need to cover, but seeing as he's going out 2 months before me, I don't need to have the 2months extra insurance, and it will result me paying more than I have to. Help?
