Ok, there are different problems for some of these problems. I'll give you about two or three problems to hep me with. This is basically Order of Operations.

Evaluate:

4{5[13-2(6)]} -19.

Evaluate each expression:

157 - 29 + 23 X 9

I am SO confused. If you could help, that'd be great!

  1. F.O.I.L.

    First

    Outside

    Inside

    Last

  2. did you ever learn about P.E.M.D.A.S??

first you do the parentheis, then equotients, then mutlplying/dividing, then adding/subtracting

so for the first one, do parentheiss first,

since 6 is by itself, skip that, so i would be 13-2, which is 11. and then since those parenteihis are out of the way it would be

    4{5x11(6)}-19

and tehn you multiply 5x11 which is 55. then multiply that by the 6, which is some big numer, then you multiply that by 4, and then subtract by 19.

the next one, you do 23x9, then 157 minus 29, and then add that to whatever 23x9 is.

  3. OMG! thats what grade 8 work is like? AH!!!! im gonna do soooooooooo bad!

  4. 1.   4{5[13-2(6)]} - 19   multiply 2 times 6 first

    4{5[13 -12]}-19    simplify the bracket

    4{5[1]}-19   multiply 5 times 1

    4{5} - 19   multiply 4 times 5

    20 - 19   subtract

    1

    2.  157 -29+23 X 9   multiply first

    157 -29 + 207  subtract

    128 + 207

    335

  5. For the first, start from the inside-most of the parenthesis, so multiply the 2 by the 6 to get:

    4{5[13 - 12]} - 19

Do the most inside again, 13 - 12:

    4{5[1]} - 19

    Again:

    20 - 19 = 1

For the second one, multiplication and division come before addition and subtraction, so 23 X 9 first:

    157 - 29 + 207 = 335

  6. P.E.M.D.A.S.

parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction

do the problem in this order

    so 4{5[13-2(6)]} - 19

    2 x 6 = 12

    4{5[13-12]} - 19

    13-12 = 1

    4{5[1]} - 19

    5 x 1 = 5

    4(5) -19

    4 x 5 = 20

    20 - 19 =

    1

1 is your answer for the first one I believe.

    and as for the second?

    I THINK...

    15 - 29 + 23 x 9

    23 x 9 = 207

    15 - 29 + 207

    do that whole thing

    and its 193

    i think.......hope i helped

  7. Start on the inside of the parentheses and work your way out, being sure to use your order of operations.

Top answer is 1 and bottom answer is 335

  8. Order Of Operations

    Multiplication

    Division

    Addition

    Subtraction

    Evaluate:

    4{5[13-2(6)]} -19.

    First is Parentesis!

    Evaluate:

    4{5[13-12]} -19

    4{5[1]} -19

    4{5} -19

    20 - 19

    1

    Your answer is 1

    Evaluate each expression:

    157 - 29 + 23 X 9

Due to the order of operations....you would multiply first so:

    157 - 29 + 23 X 9

    157 - 29 + 207

    Then it is addition

    157 - 236

    Now subtraction

    -79

    Your answer is -79

    Hope this was helpful!

  9. Problem 1:

    = 4(5[13 - 2{6}]) - 19

    = 4(5[13 - 12]) - 19

    = 4(5[1]) - 19

    = 4(5) - 19

    = 20 - 19

    = 1

    Answer: 1

    Problem 2:

    = 157 - 29 + (23 * 9)

    = 128 + 207

    = 335 OR

    = 157 - (29 + [23 * 9])

    = 157 - (29 + 207)

    = 157 - (236)

    = 157 - 236

    = 79  OR

    = (157 - 29 + 23) * 9

    = 151 * 9

    = 1,359 OR

    = 157 - ([29 + 3] * 9)

    = 157 - (32 * 9)

    = 157 - 288

    = 131

  10. follow this rule:

Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally

    P= parenthesis

    e= exponents

    M= multiplication

    D= division

    A= addition

    S= Subtraction

that's the order that you evaluate the problem in.

use distributive property and multiply 6x2, which equals 12.

    13-12=1

    that's the parenthesis part.

use distributive property again and multiply 4 to 1, which is 4. 4-19= -15

    i hope that helps.

  11. the first answer is 1

    4{5[13-2(6)]}-19

    step by step:

    1. multiply 2 and 6

    so it would be 4{5[13-12]}-19

    2. 13-12=1

    so: 4{5[1]}-19

    3. multiply 5 and 1

    so: 4{5}-19

    4. multiply 4 and 5

    so: 20 - 19

    5. 20 - 19 = 1

    therefore your answer is 1

question two: (I'm supposing X is multipplication sincce its 8th grade you aren't working with letters yet)

    157 - 29 + 23 X 9

    answer is 335

    step by step

    1. multiply 23 and 9 ( always do multiplicatiion and divisoin before adding and subtracting)

    so: 157 - 29 + 207

    2. 157 minus 29

    so: 128 + 207

    3. add 128 and 207

    so 128 + 207 = 335

I am 99.9% sure that this are correct. i am in alg II and passed all my other math classes with an a.

any more help feel free to email me

  12. Please Remember My Dear Aunt Sally

Parenthesis, raising to the power, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.

That is the order of operations.

  13. 4{5[13-2(6)]}-19

    4{5[13-12]}-19

    4{5[1]}-19

    4{5}-19

    20-19=1

    157-29+23x9

    157-29+207

    128+207= 335

  14. order of operations -- PEMDAS -- Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction

    4{5[13-2(6)]}-19

    (2(6) = 2*6)

    = 4{5[13-12]}-19

    = 4{5[1]}-19

    = 4{5} - 19 = 4*5 - 19

    = 20 - 19

    = 1

    157 - 29 + 23 * 9

Multiply 23*9 first, then do the subtraction and addition.

  15. 4{5[13-2(6)]}-19

    4[5(13-12)]-19

    4[5(1)]-19

    4(5)-19

    20-19

    1

    157-29+[(23)(9]

    157-29+207

  16. Order of operations are:

Brackets first (most inner one first)

    Multiplication and Division

    Addition and Subtraction.

You go from left to right if they're on the same level.

    4{5[13-2(6)]} -19.

The inner most bracket is [13-2(6)].

    This is 13 - 2 x 6.

    You do multiplications first so 13 - 12 = 1.

    So the expression simplifies to:

    4{5[1]} - 19.

    This is basically 4 x 5 x 1 - 19.

    Which is 20 - 19 = 1.

    157 - 29 + 23 X 9

    Do multiplication first:

    23 x 9 = 207

After that the expression is just left to right so:

    157 - 29 + 207 = 335

  17. 1) 1

    2) 749

  18. ugh i hated algebra 1 last year.

i got an A in the class. but i totally forgot everything i learned! GAH!

    so sorry ];

  19. For:   4{5[13-2(6)]} -19.

Start from the innermost part. That's 2(6)=12, right?

    Then continue with [13-12]=1, right?

And so on.. (do it yourself!)

    For: 157 - 29 + 23 X 9

    I would start with 23x9.

Then it becomes easier from there..

  20. No offense Im  like a 6th grader and i no the answer to that. like really this is so basic iv done problems way harder than this
