I don't understand the weather?

I live in Ohio and the weather is so crazy. One day it cold as h**l and then it hot as h**l. Rain for days on end and then it snows. I get sick and then better and then sick again and then better again. I don't understand it at all. Why??????????

  1. Pretty typical for any mid-latitude location.  You are going to experience a variety of weather conditions from week to week every year with some years having dramatic and frequent quick changes from hot to cold or visa-versa.

    It's all about air masses and the fact that your location happens to fall in a unique area of the world.  For one, you can easily see polar, or even arctic airmasses plummet down from Canada fairly often.  But in the same sense, you can see humid, warm air from the Gulf of Mexico advect northward into Ohio.  To make matters worse, depending on your exact location in Ohio, you may also experience lake effect weather, i.e. surprise, heavy snow late in the Spring/early in the Fall.  

    So, in summary, your location in a unique mid-latitude area leads to a multitude of weather conditions, including times when very quick changes can occur.

  4. Everything's messed up.  We've had record tornadoes this year, and record deaths per capita tornado- and the year isn't even over.
