  1. the monarch is usually more of a figurehead in a constitutional monarchy; Parliament usually has the power.

The UK is a good example of this. The Queen is still the monarch but Parliament makes the decisions. She is head of state but the Prime minster is the head of the government.

  2. A constitutional monarchy or limited monarchy is a form of government established under a constitutional system which acknowledges an elected or hereditary monarch as head of state, as opposed to an absolute monarchy, where the monarch is not bound by a constitution and is the sole source of political power.

For example, The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy. Therefore, on all matters pertaining to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland the monarch is advised solely by her British Ministers of the Crown. According to convention, the Queen's political powers are exercised upon the advice of her prime minister. She does however possess certain reserve powers which she may exercise at her own discretion.

These powers could be exercised in an emergency such as a constitutional crisis known as the the monarch's royal prerogatives. The Royal Prerogative is a body of customary authority, privilege, and immunity, recognized in common law and, sometimes, in civil law jurisdictions possessing a monarchy as belonging to the King or Queen alone.

  3. I saw what the others have on this page about Constitutional and Absolute Monarchy. And they are actually giving you some very intelligent, educational explanations. But I know that you don't want to hear all of this boring mumbo-jumbo so I am going to give you a straight-up explanation.

Constitutional Monarchy is nothing more than a figure-head. They do not have any real political power. 75% of the 15 monarchies that we have in the world are Constitutional. Which means Parlieament makes all of the decisions. And the King or Queen is nothing more than just a person whom gets paid just to sit there with a crown on. They sit there and WE as tax payers pay them. They have no power and they also have no duties...Besides making speaches and living in a large castle/building somewhere. That the government pays for.

The Absloute Monrachy is the most critisized in the world because they feel as though they are greedy Kings and Queens. BUT IN REALITY...They are the one's that actually do something. They don't sit there and just get paid. But the make the laws and the help to enforce them. They also handle issues that there country may be having at the moment. Rather than sit there and get paid by the goverment to be a statue. Look up Saudi Arabia on the internet. They have one of the most stable absloute monarchies in the world.

  4. In a constitutional monarchy, Parliment has all the power.
