  1. its like a shock

  2. wish i knew

  3. they are a suspension limiter that limits the spring  and shock travel.

  4. stop when you bump. to keep you from speeding

  5. For the correct answer please see either Tbone or tregosteevo.

  6. They are rubber grommets placed on the shock arm to increase or decrease shock travel.  It is simply a rubber ring that they can add or remove depending on how far they want the chassis to travel. It ultimately raises or lowers the car.

  7. ??????

    i guess i dont eitherr

  8. Bump stops are on the front spitter on cup cars

think has something to do with the shock package..could be wrong

  9. I am not able to help you either, unless you mean those speed bumps intended to slow people down.

  10. they are there to prevent you from speeding, so that keeps the road safe and they are mostly on small streets so you don't spee where lots of people are so you don't hit anyone.

  11. Spacers that limit shock travel

  12. They are something that they put inside of the car above or in the shock.   It stops the shock from compressing so far.  Nascar requires it on the new cars and nobody is a big fan of it.  It actually took Jeff Gordon out of the Daytona 500 because the bump stop was stopping the the shock from giving way and it bent the shock shaft.

  13. Bump Drafting---is bumping the car in front of you and pushing the car fasting

  14. bump stops are in the suspension system of the race car. They are used to prevent the car from bottoming out. I'm sure someone can explain it better, as I'm not a mechanic, but I've heard the drivers and crew chiefs talk about them.

  15. I've heard of those.

I think they have something to do with monster trucks ... I'm not too sure. My answer's very, very slapdash, I apologize.

  16. me eithr

  17. A bump stop is for the chassis only. It eliminates coil binding. What others are saying about them being inside the shock, those are actually bump rubbers, and most teams use one or the either which in the end give the same result but a different feel to the driver.

So to better explain without getting technicals, a bump stop, stops the chassis from compressing the coil spring (which would normally result in coil binding). A bump rubber is inside the shock tube and actually limits the travel in the shock tube. Both do the same thing, but give a different feel to the driver.

  18. Bump stops are spacers on the shock absorber that limit the travel of the front end.  When the shock bottoms out and hits the bump stop it keeps the front splitter from grinding into the track.  Without it the front end would have a little more travel and it would suck down closer to the track creating more downforce.
