  1. The last five weddings I went to had different color schemes, but other than that, it was the same thing.  Same traditions, menu and songs.  Don't be afraid to break boundaries or do something "because its tradition".  My fiance and I are going to have our last dance song as Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On", because of course everyone knows thats what we're going to do!

Instead of the bouquet toss, we'll have our DJ announce for all married couples to come out on the dance floor.  Then he'll say, "OK, if you've been married less than a day, sit down!" Then less than a year, less than two, less than five, etc, etc, until he gets down to the last few couples.  Whichever couple has been married the longest we'll give my bouquet to them.

  2. You remind me of myself a year ago....

I wore the gorgeous dress, did alot of traditional things, but definitely threw some mixes in there. Though many would say this is taking it way too far...I am a quite comical person....I started walking down the aisle to beautiful instrumental music, and then the cd "skipped" and it went into 10 seconds of "Wild thing...you make my heart sing...you make everything. Wild thing!"....and then "scratched" back into the beautiful music. Some people were put off, but all those who knew me and my fiancee well thought ti was perfect for us. We walked out to "Everybody dance now...Rock this party" by Bob sSinclair

Since I decided to answer this question, I might as well throw a line out there for the woman who photographed my wedding...she is FANTASTIC and travels all over the world to do weddings, and she is very reasonably priced. She did my wedding and I was SO happy with the photographs. She did some traditional poses, but we mostly went to unique locations for the portraits. She suggests crazy things like Laundromats, junk yards, grocery stores, loading docks, etc for the portraits...and they turn out BEAUTIFUL! ..check her out at www.noeyehasseen.com

Bottom line...do whatever will make the day most fun for YOU!

  3. Depending on if the place you are getting married will allow it....after you are pronounced husband and wife and kiss, then are introduced as Mr. and Mrs... have 'I Feel Good' by James Brown played as your recessional song.  We did this at my wedding, and it was so unexpected, everyone started laughing and we danced our way back down the aisle!

  4. The internet has some amazing things on it these days. If you can't find a remix you are looking for I bet you could find a DJ to make it exactly how you want for very very cheap.

Petite Fours might be a good idea for your "present box" looking dessert inloo of the cake, a friend of mine had them in multiple flavors and they were divine!

Instead of ALL flowers you could do a combo of Feathers and Flowers, I am doing this for my wedding, because I love the look and it helps to keep down the price. I am then going to have a big "wall fan" made out of the feathers so I can hang it in our home and keep it forever, where as flowers die.

Good Luck! I am sure your wedding will be beautiful.

  5. i want to go down the isle in roller blades, or be barefoot. and i want to have cupcakes instead of a wedding cake!
